if you are truly hesitant about using prescription medications you could try the natural treatment option. get a big, overnight pad and just slap a bunch of active, natural yogourt on! its messy but with a few applications can help reduce symptoms. good luck -- hope you feel better.
Thanks ladies. I actually just talked to my midwife since I had to call her anyway and she informed me that I could use a treatment but it had to be 3 days or over. Just can't use that one day treatment kind.
It's mild so far and I remember my last pregnancy it was more of just the outside and opening that was itchy and inflamed. Bah!! HORMONES!!
I'm with mikaleen...it seems that doctors really vary on this. I've had first-trimester yeast infections with 2 of my 3 pregnancies and was told by 2 different OBs that it would be safe to use the 7-day monistat.
However, I've heard of many women on here who were told it was not OK...I'd just call the doctor and ask to be on the safe side.
It seems there are a whole lot of differing opinions on this. I just had one at 7 weeks from antibiotics, and my Dr. told me to use the 7 day Monistat, which is miconozole. Not only is it less concentrated, but it's a longer treatment period, and she said it works better.
Some women are told not to use the applicator internally, my Dr. didn't say anything about it. I used it, but conservatively...I only inserted it a little bit.
After a few days I felt 100x better.
