Sweet, I'm so very sorry for your loss. It can sometimes take a couple of weeks for the HCG to drop enough before you even begin to bleed and miscarry. At 10 weeks, even if the dates are off, you should be able to see a baby with a heartbeat during an abdominal ultrasound.

First I want to say I am very sorry for you lose. I just went through the same thing. I went in the 13 of July (14wks preg) to have my first u/s done and they only saw a sac that measured 7 wks! I was devastated! It was the hardest thing ever. They told me it was a blighted ovum and that I should miscarry by the 27th or they'd give me meds to help it happen. I started spotting on the 17th and it came and went til the 23. It ranged from brown to red to pink and was sometimes enough to be on a pad but sometimes was only there when I wiped. The 24th is when it started and stayed, like a period. It started getting stringy and tissuey looking. Lots of clots. The 29th I passed the ges sac. I had to collect to take the hospital the next day and I woke up at 130 and was pouring blood out of me and felt the worse period cramps of my life. It lasted til 530 when I finally called the ER b/c I felt very dizzy and weak. By the time I got there and was checked the bleedin had let up and the dr said it was all over and the sac had been blockin the opening to my cervix and once it was released all the blood and fluid built up  came out at once! I'm not going to lie...it was the most painful thing I had ever been through. I have 2 kids and would have rather been in labor! But it was over quickly and the pain stopped. I bled til Aug 7. It was just like a period. I hope this has helped some without scaring you. I know how horrible it feels. I was hoping I had vanished twin syndrome or the baby was hiding b/c my uterus was tilted. I was hoping for everything to be ok. But God is on your side and will take care of you. You will be ok even though it doesn't seem so now...I was told that alot and it is true! Good luck to you and I'm here if you have any questions or need to chat!

I experienced your exact same situation last October. I was 10 weeks and started spotting light brown blood. I had an ultrasound and we saw fetal sac but no baby. Doctor told me it was a blighted ovum and I should expect to pass it anytime. I began to miscarry 3 days later. I did it naturally. It was tough but I'm glad I did because a D&C can sometimes cause damage. I am now almost 14 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. I get really nervous because of the miscarriage I experienced, but many doctors have stressed to me that just because it happened does not mean there is anything wrong with my fertility. I heard it put sometimes we just drop a bad egg. I'm sure that sounds terrible considering what your going through as there is nothing anyone can say to make sense of any of it or make you feel better. My thoughts are with you. I wish you strength and wisdom through all of this. You will have a healthy baby. This is a terrible bump in the road and you will probably never get over it. I tell myself that I would not be having this particular baby without the loss of that one...

I have heard that in over weight women sometimes it can be hard to find the baby...not sure if this applies.  But that was the best I can come up with.  Other then that I would say the doctors are probably right..I'm ssoooo Sorry.  If you don't feel comfortable with that then wait one more week and have them do another one and maybe that will ease your mind.

How long have you known you were pregnant?

At 10 weeks you should see the baby and a heart beat.  My last miscarriage was like that.  I had ultrasounds every week for 3 weeks and the third u/s I was 10 weeks and there was still nothing.  It sounds like that might be what is going on with you.  Even if they had your conception date wrong you would still be far enough along to see something by now.  I hope I'm wrong and I hope everything turns out well for you.  good luck

At 10 weeks, you are definetely far enough along to see the baby. If you were earlier on, I would say that maybe it was just too early to see the baby...but by now..you should def see something. Im so sorry that you are going through this.
