11 month old allergic to disposable diapers all of a sudden..

My 11 month old daughter has had an on and off rash since she was born on her bum at times the rash would get so bad it would bleed and her skin would break down. The doctor put us on a strict schedule to change her every half an hour or sooner if we notice she's wet so we did and that didn't seem to help any. We have let her run around naked a lot of the day which seems to help a little bit. They had us switch brands of diapers we have tried Huggies supreme, huggies natural, pampers, pampers cruisers, luvs, target brand and have switched different kinds of wipes to. Nothing seems to be helping so when i brought her to the doctors on the 19th I told me that the best thing for her would be to switch her to cloth diapers and they prescribed two different types of cream..Has this happened to anyone else?

I'll have to try that. My daughters problem has also cleared up completely. I never thought I would enjoy using clothing diapers but I really do. I hope its working out good for you.

This is the exact problem that we have had with my daughter, we have been using the modern cloth nappies for almost 2 weeks now and the problem has cleared up completely. We dry pail the nappies until washing, no bleach, nappysan, or any fabric softner as it reduces the absorbency. Just run them through the wash with about 1/2 the recommended amount of powder and hand them out to dry. I put a few drops of eucalyptis oil in with each load.

Sunshine does wonders for stains. Try drying them outside on a line.

The wet pail for soaking is a good idea. Then spin them to get out some of that water...then hot wash them... then do a cold rinse with 1/2 a cup of vinegar...then out to the sunshine. It sounds like a awkward ritual but you get used to it.

The cloth seems to be working so far.. it has taken the redness away entirely she does have a few spots where her skin had started to break down and the bleeding has completely stopped. Now its just the waiting game to make sure it doesn't all start back up.

and sorry left this out.. a lot of people have told me NOT to put the diapers in a water filled bucket but I found that if i don't they stain even if i do bleach them (which it says not to) so i fill the bucket up and put in white vinegar and that seems to do the trick to keep them from staining (I was the dirty ones every night so they are clean for the next day) Is there anything else I can do to help prevent stains?

We went out and bought enough diapers for her for three days I even went and took a short class on cloth diapering seeing as how I had no experience with them. Olivia was put on yeast infection meds that have not helped and was put on bacteria meds as well i was told to apply both every diaper change until the doctor tells me to stop. thanks for the info girls!

Actually this happened with both of my sisters kids. She went to cloth. I plan on just going cloth from the beginning after watching her ordeal.
Look at greenmountaindiapers.com for good deals on diapers. Also, you can find good deals on diaper covers on ebay and etsy.com
I hope everything clears up for her soon! A bonus of cloth is she will probably potty train really early too.

Are they sure it isn't a yeast rash? DS had them a lot when he was younger, and only when he started potty training did they really start going away. The ped I had said that he would keep getting them until he was potty trained.
