This may seem silly. I found out I am 5 weeks and 1 day pregnant lastnight after going to the ER for extream cramping. I have diarrhea pretty bad.... can I take an anti-  diarrheal medicine? Hope I don't sound silly for askin. Lol

Try the diet approach first. And as always with pregnancy, always check with your doctor just to be safe (Canada also has a motherrisk hotline you can call -- google it). Rice, apples/applesauce, crackers, bananas. Limit sugary juices too -- should help.

I have had problems with diarrhea and constipation off and on throughout my pregnancy. I have IBS which I am familiar with how to handle, so I'm thinking its also hormonally related. I've also heard of other women on here having diarrhea early in their pregnancy.

Good luck!

This is common in pregnancy's i am pregnant myself and found i had the same issue. I was told take my vitamins and eat lots of bananas and it will stop. my doc would not let me have anything. congrats on your pregnancy.

I agree before taking anything, you should speak to your Dr. One main reason for diarrhea is dehydration so make sure you drink a lot of water.
