2 vessel cord

i have been for my 20 week scan and woz told my cord has only 2 vessels instead of 3 a am really worried about this has this happened to anyone else?

Its a soft marker for downs yes.but if ask the other tests come back good then they rule it out.

thanks everyone i think its just natural to worry i have heard it can also be a sign of downs is this true?

I had it with my daughter and no other problems came of it.  with extra monitoring and a good dr you'll be fine!  I delivered at 39 weeks naturally and she was 7 lbs 12 oz.

They will give you a level2 ultrasound to make sure the heart and kidneys are ok since it can cause problems to those organs.i'm getting ultrasound every 2 Weeks to check on the growth,I started those around 24 Weeks.she's growing great and weighed 3.3lbs at my 30 week appointment. Since there's only 2 vessels they have to check the blood flow going to the placenta and baby.if the placenta doesn't get enough blood it'll start to die, which iswhen they would decide to induce you early. I'm 31 Weeks now and everything is looking good so far, but just like you I was super scared when they told me at first.

My last pregnancy we had a 2 vessel cord and a weird insertion, but everything turned out just fine.  I did have our little girl at 35 weeks, but she is now almost 3 and perfect! She's now in the 95th percentile for height and 75th for weight.  She perfectly healthy and VERY SMART.  I remember how much I worried during her pregnancy and there really wasn't much info or moms on this forum so it's good to see some out there.

I had u/s about every 4 weeks after 20 and then every 2 weeks after 34 to make sure she was growing well...which she was, she was 5lbs 2oz at 35 weeks, the reason I had her at 35 was because the placenta gave out...and my water broke...they don't think it was because the 2 vessel cord.  I was supposed to have the NST every 2 weeks starting at 28 weeks but since she was growing so well they canceled them. Good LUCK and try not to worry, they will keep a good eye on you and for us looking back we had nothing to worry about.

It happened to my sister in law. She was monitored extremely closely and had to have stress tests twice a week. She ended up giving birth naturally at 35 weeks. Her son is now 2 and healthy as can be!
