20 week Ultrasound results- some mixed feelings

I had my 20 week ultrasound today..  Man does the baby not have the same amount of space that it had at 13 weeks ....

My last ultrasound was on a Tuesday and I measured 13 weeks 6 days, which would have put me at 20 weeks 2 days today.

My scan showed me measuring at 19 weeks 5 days...  (so this is slightly behind). The sonographer said this isnt an issue at all, shouldnt cause any concern and wont change my due date due to it being less than 7 days difference.

She said everything looked great and that my thinness is great because it caused me to take perfect clear inutero pictures...  I guess I am just worried because I dont know what would cause the difference in growth from Ultrasound one to now...  I may just be having a small baby because I mean the measurements are just based on averages and every baby is different..

They dont tell you the sex here during the medical ultrasounds so I dont know but I am 90% confident (because the ultrasound was so clear) that when she kept it on the legs for an extended period of time, my husband and I both saw what looked like a penis between (we didnt bring it up until the end of the us so we both saw it independently)... Saw it more than once ..  So I think I am having a boy, which I have felt it was a boy from the start so I wouldnt be surprised.

Babies legs are so long now compared to 13 weeks.  On the bright side, other than measuringa  couple days small she said everything looked great so I am happy about that

I had my 24 week ultrasound last friday. Found out its a boy, which is what I tought all along. My first ultrasound the baby was measuring 4 days behind, this one 9 days behind their calculations, but I know anyway that I was measuring right on time before and so that would only make him 5 days behind now too. I haven't seen my dr yet, but the tech said he is probably measuring small because I was so sick, and at this stage the measurements don't mean as much because every baby grows differently anyway.

I appreciate the comments.. it helps to hear about other people who have been through this.. They told me not to worry at all but I guess i was just thrown off by the difference in the two..

My first ultrasound was only 1 day off which I told them would happen because I knew I ovulated like CD 18 not 15 ...

I remember reading that before that 2nd trimester ultrasounds can be off a bit but I guess I was just hoping everything would be smack on...  I have been happy with the results all day overall because she said everything looked great... Just felt weird when I saw the measurements .. thank you so much for the reassuring comments though, they help alot

It's extremely common for 2nd and 3rd trimester ultrasounds to vary and be off by a week or two either way.  Yours looks great.  Your dates are very close.  Just remember that the further along you are the less accurate the measurements actually are and they become more of a guess.  I honestly would NOT worry.  Out of 6 full term pregnancies I can tell you that my ultrasounds were all over the place and it was never an issue.

I had my 20 week u/s today too, and I was also was measuring 5 days smaller.  When I had one at 10 weeks I was right on.  Well this is 4th and all my babies around this time have been off 5-7 days, my first was the latest arriving 2 weeks past due and weighing 8lbs 6 oz, my 2nd was 3 days late and weighed 7lbs 13 oz, my 3rd was born on his due date and weighed 8 lbs 6 oz.  So it's ok that your a little off now.  It's very common.  Here's to a fast 20 weeks for both of us to meet our little ones. :)
