Im not sure why my hospital is diffrent but when I went for mine I drank a bottle of water just to be on the safe side and the tech noticed how full my bladder was and made me go empty it. She said there was no need for a full bladder anymore. Maybe the equipment is more advanced, IDK. Go with a full bladder then ask when you check in. You can always go pee if there is no need for a full bladder. Trust me, with my first 2 pregnancys I had a full bladder and it was H*** . It was the most uncomfortable 30 minutes of my life, lol! This new thing with my hospital is great! I empty my bladder and I swear its full 10 minutes later anyways:)

Your bladder needs to be full in order for the sonographer to get views of the cervix and ovaries.

TKM- yes, you need a full bladder. My sonogram is in two weeks and my instructions state to drink 32 ounces of water within 10 minutes (an hour before the appointment). It will be very uncomfortable but they'll let you go pee as soon as they get what they need from the sonogram.

What I did for my scan was pee and hour before my appt. then drink 16 oz. of water on the way there. And I got really awesome pics!  Eat breakfast so you can get baby going. =] Good luck =]
