24 weeks, already dilated??

I was seen in labor and delivery yesterday, was contracting, found out I am severely anemic and was treated for dehydration. While I was there the nurse checked my cervix and said I was a fingertip to 1 cm dilated. She didn't seem at all concerned about this but everything I have read/heard says I should be. My OB is out til next week. Should I just wait? Does anyone have any experience with this. This is my first pregnancy. Wondering about cervical insufficiency. Thanks!

Ok whew! Thank you! The contractions stopped after I was given fluids so the figured they were just caused by dehydration.

I concur with Krissy.  My niece was at 1 1/2 cm for three months or some long period of time like that.

You can be dialated 1cm for a very long time. What did the doc say about the contractions?
