Don't get induced if you don't want the epidural. Letting labor start naturally will mean time for your body to gear up and less intense contractions.

Ftm's.... please don't be scared!!! It is NOT horrible!! Being excited and embracing it will make it bearable!

Read about breathing techniques, stop worrying about it, don't think of it as bad pain. It's a good pain! That's what I did and I had a great experience. Yes it was hard and it was long but I did it!

If you don't have the epidural readily available, you will be less likely to think about it. I woiuld've had to transfer to a hospital if I wanted it. Just decide you aren't getting it and be firm. Women gave birth for centuries without it, so you can totally do it! It is not without risk, can have effects on the baby we don't even know about yet, and can impair healing afterward.

my friend just had her baby last week and got an epidural. shes doing awesome. i think some people can have good or bad experiences with it. I think youll know when the time comes. im 36 weeks pregnant and im gonna get it. im uterly terrified of needls and pain. but they do it during a contraction supposidly so you wont even notice the little needle. Im a chicken to the max and im sooo doing it. i dont wan to feel my hoha tear open. NO THANKS. id rather be relaxed and push my daughter out peacefully.  best of luck we have our munchkins out soon.

5yrs ago I was induced 'pitocin' is an evil thing.. I did it without any pain meds.. Honestly it was horrible.. Im 18w with my 2nd and I most likely will do it natural again.. The first time I didn't go into it with a plan, so I wasn't disappointed either way.. Imma just take it as it comes.. Good luck to you and your little one..

You still feel getting the epidural. Or I did all 4 times I've gotten one. It feels like a big stick or some even a small bee sting for a few seconds. It doesn't last long and once it's in, you're good to go. I had an amazing epidural in August. I was up and walking after delivery on my own before I was put in a room. They were going to give me a catheter to empty my bladder but I told her I could walk and once she got me up out of bed she was amazed Lol..
I did it with my first one, too.

Hey. I never got an epidural. My contractions were every 4mins from the start and I was in labour 36 hours. I didn't go to hosp til I was 7cm, and honestly didn't think it was too bad. The worst for me was when midwife turned baby's head... Pushed for 45, tore the mattress pulling it, but I did it :) I'm terrified of canulars, the thing that goes in your arm for an Iv. And that's what kept ne away from the epidural :) I think as long as you listen to your body, its easier to cope x

Girl your gonna want it trust me lol I just had my first baby 3 weeks ago and omg the contractions are the worst pain ever, I seriously wouldn't of made it with out one. And I'm perfectly fine no problems. They give u a shot that numbs that area n u feel some kinda shock for a sec then ur done . The only thing I didn't like was how numb I felt I could even lift my legs up but I didn't feel a thing ,. Whoever thinks there gonna go natural without one is crazy lol jk but I respect the ones who do go natural cause there's no way I could do it with the pain I was having lol

This is my first too and from what I found out there is no scientific proof that your going to get back problems from having an epidural and they numb you up before they do it so that you don't jump when the needle goes in your back so you don't really feel it.....

I had it with my first baby (sept' 11) and second. I got stuck 3 times with my first baby and they told me if the 3rd didn't stick that I couldn't have it.. but thankfully, it did.. It was awful because I was induced and pitocin made my contractions worse.. The second baby which I had in August, once my water was broken, the contractions pilled up on me like one after another. At 4cm I was already begging for an epidural... It took on the first time and I am so thankful it did. I almost threw up right after I got it but I was fine.

I was all for trying to hold out as long as I could without an epidural but I got it twice. I also had pain medicine with both babies. You will know once you get in there but after so many cm, you can't have it so be sure you absolutely don't want it.. I'm sure you will do fine though. Many women go natural. I, however, could not because the pain was too stressful on me. I noticed how stressed my baby became because I couldn't concentrate on calming down and breathing during contractions.

Pregnant with my 4th, and had an epidural with all 3.  I have not had any problems since my first 13yrs ago.  The epidural was a godsend fir me.  My contractions were so bad that I would literally get sick.  Once I got the shot no more pain or puking.  But do what you feel comfortable with.  There are women who say there not going to get it, and then end up changing their minds.  You will know when the time comes
