To have a better view of your baby its recommended to wait until closer to your trimester. Your baby is still pretty small and wont look like much. I had all my 4d's done closer to term. Although i didnt pay for mine if you have to, i would wait a little later bc its not necessary in determining the sex. They usually do a gender and anatomy scan at 20 weeks

Most obgyn offices make you wait till your 18-20wk because its an anatomy scan + gender check, however sex of baby can be determined accuratly at 16wk. If you want the 16wk gender ultrasound you have to find a 3d elective ultrasound place around your area but your insurance wont cover it. Just keep in mind elective ultrasounds are done by technitions not doctors so they will accuratly find sex but if anything is wrong with baby dont exspect answers. But on a good note i go in for my elective gender scan this sat!! Im so excitted ;) and i plan on doing a 3d scan around 30 wks also to see my babys full formed face <3 good luck!

I paid for a private 3d scan at 15 weeks and the tech was 100% sure it was a girl. She was right I had my anatomy scan today at 21 weeks and this tech said 100% girl too (:

I paid for a gender scan at 15w, and it was a boy. They didn't want to say it was 100% certain til my 20w scan, but it was right. The tech told me they can definately tell in the 16th week.

They say any time less than 17 weeks can be Inaccurate due to the baby's sex organs not fully developed and can look closely a like during the early stages of pregnancy. I've read a few ladies on here awhile ago who had theirs done around 15-16 weeks and had accurate results, It's juss a lil' more risky (as In bein' able to tell the gender correct) the earlier you do It.

You find out the gender around 18-20 weeks depending on your Dr. and you do your 3d one when your about 30 weeks when the babys face looks more distinct
