4 Weeks and I'm an emotional rollercoaster

I just found out that I was pregnant 3 days ago and I am elated!  This will be our first child.  It's way too early to tell people, but I just can't contain my excitement.  So I thought I'd post on here just to let out some of my excitement.  My feelings keep oscillating between excitement and nervousness.  So many of my friends have had miscarriages with their firsts, so part of me doesn't want to get too excited.  When I told my husband that my test was positive, he wasn't even that excited.  He was instantly apprehensive because he didn't want to get too excited too soon.  My doctor doesn't see patients until 8 weeks, so I have to wait until Aug 31 to see her.  It seems so far away!

How have you dealt with this battle between excitement and worry?

Thank you both for your responses!  It's so nice to hear from people who went thought what I am feeling!

My husband has a similar outlook as you, dgrayson6.  He wants to tell our families over labor day weekend.  Most of our family is out of state and we will be able to see both sides of our immediate family within 4 days.  We thought this might be the perfect time to tell them.  This will be the first grandchild on my side of the family (my husband's side already has 8!).  So I am also worried that if something happens during this pregnancy, my parents and grandparents will be so very disappointed.  I know my mom has been wanting a grandchild for a very long time.

So most of my hesitation in telling my family is that I don't want to cause them unnecessary pain if something were to happen.

I was exactly like you ! You just need to hope for the best and take the bad thoughts out of your head it will only make you worry and stress. I know its easier said than done bc I was told that. Looking back now that I'm 28 weeks I wish I wouldn't have worried. But through out pregnancy you have multiple worries. I still do but dont stress the worries and what if's enjoy you pregnancy and take as good of care as possible of your baby(:

I told people immediately.  Many would advise against but I'm an open book and can't keep any excitement locked away.  I wanted to share the joy of my news and if I ended up having a miscarriage, the people who loved me would be there for me.  I don't believe in going through huge milestones without the people who support everything else I go through.  As far as worry, I overcame unbelievable odds to get pregnant, and after dealing with cancer last year and overcoming that, I learned that I can forgo worry until a doctor tells me otherwise.  How exciting for your first dr visit!  I'm thrilled for you :)
