midwife has just been to see me. baby is measurig 38 in, is 4/5ths engaged and is still facing my left but slightly more back to back, so no progress really since 2 weeks ago! no internal examination or anything so i have no idea how dilated / effaced i am! ah well, will just have to wait and see what happens!! next appointment is in a week!

I would think at this point she would check you to see if any cervical changes. Good luck! You are almost there.  :)

I was overdue with my son but at that point I was seeing my OB every week - and he'd been doing internal exams since week 37 (no effacing, no dialation, nothing).  He sent me for another ultrasound (biophysical profile) at 40 weeks to determine if everything was still ok - which it was.  He induced me a week after my due date.

Keep us posted on what happens with you!! Good luck :-))
