The weight you've gained really has nothing to do with gestational diabetes. It has to do with your baby - and the inability to process and control their sugar. It just happens sometimes. People that are 400 pounds could get it and people that are 120 pounds could get it. In reality it's not really what you eat that determines if you've got it. I eat very well with hardly any sugar and was borderline. It just has to do with the placenta and how it processes glucose.
That's not to say that you have it. You could very well just have a big baby, the sonographer could have made a mistake or they could be off on your due date. Lots of factors to look at.
I hope your glucose test goes well - GD ***** (even when you're just borderline!)
no i get the test on Friday. iv actually only gained a pound in my whole pregnancy which is why i was shocked at the size of him. i don't have a big bump at all either. ppl say if they didn't already know i was pregnant they would be able to tell :-\
At 24 weeks your baby should weigh about 1.5 pounds. 2 pounds is closer to 28 weeks. Have they tested you for gestational diabetes? That could be the reason.
I m 29 weeks pregnant n had my scan during 28th week..my baby was 1.5kg n my ob said it can get over weight cuz of my diabities...u shud discuss with ur ob about ur baby weight according to ur height n weight..gud luck
