5 1/2 to 6 weeks no heartbeat or baby

Hi,
I am a little confused and scared. I went to a Emergency OB clinic yesterday I am 6 weeks 3 days preggo. I went for light bleeding which I was told was irritated blood vessels on my cervix. The part I am a little freaked out about is that when they did the vaginal ultrasound they found the sac and the yolk but they couldn't find a baby, the doctor mentioned that I might not be as far along as I think I am (I know positively when I had my last period and I did the ovulation predictors for ovulation), they said everything with the sac and yolk looked normal. Is it to early to see a baby at all? Should I be worried? I am going back in for another vaginal ultrasound on Tuesday but that is a awful long time to wait with out having completely freaking out. Would when the baby implanted change when they are able to see it on the u/s? This is my second pregnancy and I have a precious little girl who is almost 3. My SO isn't worried he thinks this if fine and normal. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly welcomed. Thank you.

I had the same experiance in August...I was 11 weeks and went in for my first ultrasound and they found nothing. They did the d&c.  I am very sorry for your loss but I know those words are no comfort to you at this time.  I also have a 3 yr old and having him really helped me survive that with God and my wonderful Husband.  You will be in my prayers and if you want to talk feel free to send me a message.

I too had a misscarriage on Oct.4th. They had to do a DNC. It was horrible. I felt so empty inside. The only thing  I can tell you, is that God will see you through.I don't know if I could have made it this far with out him. You will make it. We are waiting for my normal period and then we will try again. My Dr. says to only wait one period. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I too am preparing myself for the same thing unfortunately. I am 5 weeks and have been bleeding for 3 days. I had an us today and saw 2 sacs but no fetal pole either. I also had low hcg levels and have been going crazy. I know how you're feeling. Again, sorry for your loss.

I went through the same thing not even two weeks ago. I was bleeding a bit then had an U/S. Two days later I miscarried. Its heartwrenching to know we lost them, but everything happens for a reason. Just heal up and try again! I'm sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is. Its nice to know were not alone in these situations. Mine happened on a Friday too. My miscarriage seemed to have happened within about 3 hours. Everythings fine one minute, then turns for the worse the next. Life seems unfair to us at times. Be strong and hang in there!

Well I began miscarrying almost as soon as I woke up on Friday morning. I go in tomorrow morning to confirm and make sure I don't need a D&C, thanks for all your help and good thoughts I appreciate it.

hello. i have had 2 children and recently had a miscarriage at 8/9 weeks on our attempt at a 3rd child. my 1st u/s i was 7 weeks 5 days and the baby was the shape and size of a lima bean, so i wouldnt worry too much...i am not sure but if u consult your doctor, he/she may tell you that to get a good heartbeat sound on the dopler you need to be 10 to 12 weeks pregnant, if not more. and as far as hcg levels, they double in quantity every 2 days so dont worry.

Keep the faith.  I think we're experiencing similar things, a few days apart.  On last Friday, I had a 6 wk 3 day sac and they couldn't find a baby.  On Wednesday, The sac kept growing and they saw "something" Today, Friday, I went in for another transvaginal u/s and I saw my baby and a heartbeat.  I'm so relieved.  I know I have a long way to go, but it's hope.  So have hope too.  I bet in your next u/s they'll find your healthy little one.  My HCG levels are higher though, a bit too high.  They've gone from about 4000 last friday to about 30,000.  I'm a little nervous about that, but hey, i saw my baby's heartbeat and that's all I'm focused on now.

Hopefully the fact that they see something that wasn't there the last time it is a good sign.  Even though it doesn't seem possible,  it does kinda make sense that maybe you are a week earlier than you thought.  Good luck!

Well I went in again today after my HCG test came back. It was originally at 6404 and went up to 6841, from monday to today. Which needless to say isn't great. So I went back and the did another vaginal u/s and this time they said they definetly see something, something that wasn't there last time, basically they see the baby but it isn't defined enough yet to call it the fetal pole or to measure it much, they think I may be like a week earlier than originally thought (not sure how that is poss but oh well) So we got good news/bad news. The also told me that unless i was having worse bleeding or cramping or something they only use the HCG test to see the level cause supposedly if it is off for how far along you are it could be etopic but that unless I was having major bleeding/cramping they won't check it again because they use the u/s cause everyones levels go up different. So it looks like for now they are a tiny bit worried but not to bad. I go back on Tuesday still and they would like to see a defined fetal pole and/or the heartbeat then.

I am so happy everything is going well with you pregnancy. I went and had my blood drawn, I got a newbie so it took forever, I am going to call this afternoon at the end of duty hours to see if it came in, hopefully it will, it feels like I am getting an ulcer from all the waiting. At least by tomorrow morning I should know something a little bit more firm, if my levels haven't gone up or if they have gone down then at least I will know and the waiting will be over, and hopefully they have gone up just right and then I can enjoy upcoming four day weekend. I will keep everyone posted on what happens, thanks for all of the support:)

Hi, I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second child and I had the same thing happen.  I was so nervous, but a week later the baby was there.  I don't know what your pregnancy was like with your first child, but I didn't find out I was pregnant with my first until about 8 weeks because I had implantation bleeding I thought was my period.  I had a lot of problems (incompetent cervix and preterm labor) but now have a beautiful 14 month old.  Now in my second pregnancy, I have a lot of anxiety for this pregnancy.  This pregnancy, I found out literally right away.  Since it was so early, I was expecting to see something on the ultrasound and when I didn't, I was really freaked out.  I found out however that it isn't uncommon and it is a good sign that your levels are appropriate and that there is a sac and a yolk.  It sounds like the pregnancy is progressing normally.  I will be praying for you and I hope everything goes well.  I know it can be absolute murder every day you think there is a problem and you have to just sit and wait.  Try to keep busy and I am sure it will turn out ok!

I talked to a OB nurse today who has been on the job for like 15-20 yrs, she had more time to answer questions that I have thought since the u/s. I found out from her that my HCG level on Monday was 6,000 which from what she says is pretty normal for between 5 1/2 and 6weeks. She also said it is quite normal for them to miss the baby at this stage, the baby is so tiny that they have a hard time finding it even in those little sacs, and a lot of times the baby is just not big enough yet to show up. She ordered another HCG test for me, I go in tomorrow morning for that. I will call tomorrow at the end of the day to see if it's back, if it isn't back then it will be back on Friday morning. I still go in for  another u/s on Tuesday either way but this will at least give me a lilttle bit more info:) You are all in my prayers:)

Same thing here.  My yolk sac measures 6 wks 3 days, but they only see a sac.  I'm trying to be optimistic that I'm not as far as I think and that's why we can't see the baby.   That's all we can do.  The fear and stress is not going to help our babies.  So stay positive.  Post back and good luck to all of us.

Hey chica, 6wks is still awfull early, and like wildcherries said, there is still room for some miscalculation. I woulden't be concerned if I were you. The sac and the yolk is right on target for that time frame. Keep your head up and stay in prayer. Everything will be fine. God Bless:)

Hi...Not sure if you are counting the fact that technically we carry for 10 months. You look at when you concieved but then they add on I believe 2 weeks?  The doctor is probally right it is too early. I wouldn't worry yourself. They baby is soo tiny at this point I bet on next ultrasound it will be visible:) Keep your stress level down and hope to hear how it goes:) Good luck
