6-7 weeks pregnant and having mild cramps and some small "old blood" clots, is that normal?

So initially I thought I was about 9 weeks pregnant, using ye old LMP method. I began having mild cramping and some brown "old blood" discharge. I called my dr's office and they set me up with an ultrasound which showed I was only 6 weeks pregnant. So I was told it could either be that our days were off initially, or that the pregnancy was not progressing as it should be and I could be having a miscarriage. I have not noticed any bright red blood nor are my cramps severe, but I am still scared about what is happening.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Thanks,

Cortni :)

Those are really promising numbers, are you still going back tomorrow for the 2nd draw.  it would be best to see them goiing up.  Its important to remember with #'s at 38,037 it would be probably at least 96 hours before you would see them double but noticing a rise would be nice..

Not all doctors do the double test unless there are concerns....  In this case, I would still get it to be safe.. Final peace of mind but congrats on the awesome numbers..

Good signs --- fetal pole present & high #s

UPDATE!! So my HCG levels are at 38,037!! Right where they need to be for 6 weeks!! This makes me feel better b/c I figure if the baby had stopped developing at 6 weeks, and I should infact be at 9 weeks, wouldn't the HCG levels be going down, below the normal 6 week range?

Just a thought!

Thanks :)

There was a fetal pole and everything, they didn't check for a heartbeat quite yet because it was still kind of early, but everything else was there!

Last night the small brown clots stopped and so did my cramps and I am having very minimal brown blood now, only when i wipe! I'm hoping thats a good sign!!

They took my blood yesterday to test the HCG levels, so going back Wed. to get blood drawn again. I am praying that the levels are going up like they're supposed to!

Thanks for everyones posts!! I really appreciate it! :)

Did the ultrasound show a fetal pole and heartbeat.. If thats the case I wouldnt worry..

I had this happen in my first pregnancy but around 11 weeks - i had some brown blood in my underwear.. No cramping, no pain, no clots...

When I went for my scheduled ultrasound 5 days later, found out I had a blighted ovum.. It can be hard to judge these things...

if a HB/fetal pole werent found, then it could be concerning but at the same time a lot of people dont pick those up until later as welll

That was yesterday and they actually found blood outside of the sac, i dont know anything about it at this stage though if anyone has had it before itd be a great help to know whats going on but im sure youll be fine as its old blood. Good luck

They're very very very small and stringy clots. I have had this happen before but I was not pregnant at the time. I don't know, I just have so many things running through my mind right now, its hard to stay positive.
