6.4 weeks pregnant, no sac visable on scan

hi. im 6.3 weeks pregnant. had a slight bleed. went for a scan today but no sac present. i was told i had an early miscarriage. got to go back for another scan in 3 weeks. could i still be pregnant, was the scan too early?

Totally amazing!!! Im neally 17 weeks, wow!!!!!
Taking each day as it comes. still having cramps but can feel slight flutters now which keep me positive. Heard the heartbeat for the first time on the 9th nov, so exciting. Also had a gender scan and 80% sure its a girl!! Baby in a funny position but i counted 3 lines. Boy or girl i just want to hold my baby.
Dont think i will relax until april 2011. good luck to everyone, thankyou for your replys xx

Just an update. had another scare last wed, cramping, bleeding very heavily. Had scan following day, all ok, baby fine, 6cm, due 26th april 2011.
So to everyone that is going through similar problems, hang in there, sometimes things work out good, keep strong, keep positive!!!

i had similar thing happen and here i am 21+3 days pregnant goodluck with your pregnancy how far were you when they done the second scan and found heart beat my first scan was done casue i didnt know dates and they couldnt see much of anything i was scared but i was 4 weeks 6 days and second scan i was found to be 8 weeks 1 day so glad you have same outcome as me goodluck

im in total shock, after 3 weeks of waiting for a miscarriage i went back for a scan and there was a heartbeat!!! cant believe it!!!! miracles do happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wishing everyone all the best xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Just an update, pregnancy symptoms gone, slight bleed with cramps.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I had an abdominal scan. I bled for one day without pains or cramps. Trying to remain positive but deep down i think they are correct. Just wish i didnt have pregnancy symptoms and having to wait 3 weeks is frustrating. i'll keep you updated, thanks again x

I wouldn't worry too much yet, I didn't see my baby until 8.5 weeks(had a few ultrasounds from 5 weeks on) she wasnt visible or was hiding until then and then they bumped me up to 9 weeks. Some babies just dont wanna be found. Dates could be off, equipment could be the cause too, if its not up to date or an older model etc.\
My little one is now 6 months old.

Hi there, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but If you are in fact 6 weeks 3 days pregnant they should have been able to see the sac and probably the heartbeat also, I have to ask though, was the ultrasound abdominal or vaginal? also it may be that your dates were wrong and it is too early depending on which type of scan they did. However, if the scan was vaginal and they couldn't see anything at all, I am afraid to say that they are most likely right and the pregnancy ended in early miscarriage. The gestational sac is usually visable by about 4 weeks gestation on a scan. If you think your dates may have been wrong, then it might still be posible you are still pregnant and it was just too early to see anything on the scan, let me know how you get on ok? good luck adn all the best :)

It could have been too early to see anything. You may have ovulated later, and not be as far along as you think you are. Only time will tell unfortunately, and bleeding in early pregnancy isn't unheard of. If you're not having cramping and bleeding heavily I'd tell the dr you want your levels tested to see if they are doubling or not instead of waiting three weeks. That seems kinda ridiculous to wait that long to find out for sure.
