8 WEEK US

Hi all!! I went in today for 8 week US and they discovered another fetal pole in the sac!!! This is very rare that two fetal poles share the same sac... only one has a hb that is low for 8 weeks and they are both measuring 2 weeks behind at 6w1d...Anyone have any similiar experience or comments all are welcome...the doc told me to prepare for a DNC but I am not going to do that just yet until I have a second and third opinion. Doc also told me to stop progesterone which I will not do until I feel its time and I know its no chance. How do you tell someone to prepare for DNC when there is still a hb...I hate ignorant doctors!!!!

I can't believe the doc is tellign you that.  Even if one fetal pole doesn't survive it doesn't mean the other won't, especially if the heartbeat on that one is looking good.  I would def. get another opinion and wait until you are comfortable with things before making any drastic decisions.

this is my second child and yes the heart beat is low but not so much that i would automatically think it wasn't viable, when i was 8 weeks the babies heart beat was 171 and the measurments have always been a week or 2 behind and they told me at the first A/S that it was a blighted ovum an empty sac at only 4wks then 2 A/S later at 8wks they saw the baby and now i'm 23wks, so what iam saying is i wouldn't give up hope until all hope is gone doctors don't always know everything good luck

Thank you MaisonsMommy!!! I can only put my faith in God and know that he knows all things. If my babies make it or if they dont I know God knows all things and He doesnt make any mistakes. While its going to be hard and soo heart breaking I know He has my back!

No this was my third US ..first they saw ges sac and the yoldk sac at 5w5d then again at 6w6d we saw the baby and the HB at 120 measuring a week behind and then today at 8w1d two fetal poles in the same sac one hb but lower then last week and measuring two weeks behind...The sac has always measured correctly its the babies that are off...I had IVF so they seem to be very sure of the dates...but I have two doc appointments on Mon ..two different OBGYN if they all say the same ...i will just wait and see what my body decides! Good luck to you and best wishes

That is exactly what happened to me. I guess when the doctors see that the babys are measuring smaller and the heart rate is really slower, it is not going to turn out so goo.d I kept taking my meds and hoping for the best, but still had to get the DNC... I hope everything turns out for the best!!!!

I would defiantly get another opinion especially this early on.  Was this your first ultrasound?  If not was the sac measuring correctly the first time?  Maybe your dates are just a little off.  I know if you go by my LMP I should be 5 weeks and about 2 days but my cycles are 31 days so I know I am not that far.  Hope everything goes ok for you.
