8 Week U/S

Hi ladies,

Just curious, I have my first appointment 8/12, I will be 8w3d. Am I only going to be able to see the heartbeat on the U/S, or will I hear it too? Can anyone tell me for sure? I am trying to have DH come to as few appointments as possible, he works night and I can only get appointments early in the morning, but I don't want him to miss out on anything important either.

i just had my 1st u/s and i was 7w6d and we saw baby and heart fluttering and heard bheart beat...so yes u can hear and see it

My first appt at 6w2d we saw the heartbeat on the u/s and my docs machine lets you hear it as well. I was too early for a doppler but you could hear it perfectly on the u/s machine! good luck hope you get to hear it!

only very limited US machines have the ability to hear the heartbeat.  did they tell you that they are going to do an US on your 8 week appointment?  i only ask because if it is your 1st pregnancy and all has been going well, they usually do not do one then, they just do an internal exam and blood work.

i got to hear my baby's heratbeat the last appointment at 10 weeks which a lot of people say is early.  i also had 2 MC's so i had US at 6 weeks and 8 weeks.

YOU DONT ACTUALLY HEAR IT TILL 11 OR 12 WEEKS .. THAN THE DROPPLER CAN PICK IT UP. AT 8 WEEKS THAY WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SEE IT.... HOPE THAT HELPS YOU AT ALL.... GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY 9 MONTHS

I had my 8 week ultrasound a few weeks ago and you are able to see the heart beating and the little bean, but they did not offer any options to listen to the heart beat.  I think that this is a good appt. for him to go to!  It is sooo amazing seeing the beating heart :)  Good luck!
