UPDATE: We welcomed our baby girl 3 weeks early via emergency c-section due to severe placental abruption Saturday AM! We are completely in love and so thankful that she is finally here with us, after all the worries about PTL and irritable uterus.
I will write a longer version of the events soon, but for now I just wanted to get the message out there.... LADIES, IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG, ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. PAGE your DR or MIDWIFE or CALL 911!!! Don't question your intuition.
I called 911 due to heavy bleeding (discovered it when I awoke) because I knew something was wrong, and yet when I got to triage they tried to downplay and said some women bleed more during labour (I was contracting as I always do, 2-3 minutes 24hrs a day due to my irritable uterus so they thought I was in labour) and yet when I was examined by the OB it was determined that there was a SIGNIFICANT amout of blood and that I was not dilated and not in labour DESPITE the contractions. My baby was stable so they reassured me she would be okay and prepped me for an emergency section. The surgeon told me afterward: "We always question whether c-sections are medically necessary; If this had progressed it would have been extremely dangerous for you and your baby. Your uterine wall had turned black and blue from absorbing the blood..."
ALL I can say is THANK GOD I started to expel blood externally as well... Sometime this doesn't happen and women bleed internally and lose their babies and go into shock themselves.
I hope this post doesn't bring up painful memories for any women on here.... I just really wanted to get my message out.
Take care, Ladies.
