Above average fundal height

I just turned 14 weeks today and also had a Dr's appointment where he measured my funal height (from my pelvic bone to the top of my uterus).  It measured 18 cm and from what I am reading the cm's should be around the same amount of weeks you are pg, so mine should be around 14 cm.  Of course I am searching the internet to see what I can find and it looks like twins or having my dates wrong are the main things.  I've had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and only saw one baby and I have only heard 1 heartbeat on both my doppler and the drs.  We were pretty hardcore TTC so I know the day I ovulated and had gotten a negative test before my positive so i don't think my dates could be off that much.  Other causes could be placenta previa, too much amniotic fluid or looser abdominal muscles (this is my first baby).  I have an ultrasound Monday but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience either with a higher fundal height or any of the things I've mentioned?

My Dr usually checks that @ 20week. Usually that's not accurate. I wouldn't stress, you'll be okay!

Some women start showing more than they should earlier than other... Most doctors don't start measuring fundal height until 20+ weeks as that really means absolutely nothing right now. You're still so early... so much can change from now until your due date.. so I wouldn't worry at all.

My doctor hasn't started yet (I'm 24 weeks) but I think he plans to at my next appointment. I seem to remember they follow it more for a trend than for the actual measurement since it's not a very accurate measurement, as others said.

My dr measured me and i was 28cm at 24wks.   He said its rare that someone is actually exactly at the measurement it is supposed to be.

I had a higher fundal height around 12 or 13 weeks than I was "supposed to". Every pregnancy is different. My US at 21 weeks showed normal. Don't worry too much about it.

My drs dont even check that until 20+ weeks...then they check it every visit after that...but its not a very accurate measurment...if the baby is laying funny it can change the results dramatically...i wouldnt worry...
