After birth...Sex???

is it possible for one woman to heal faster then another, after birth. or do you have to wait 6 weeks no matter what to have sex?  I never had sex baly at all when I was pregnant. and I just gave birth almost 3 weeks ago.  I feel fine, no pain down there or anything, still bleeding alil..  But I almost had sex like 3 times last night. I dont know what came over me, well actually the alcohol and not making love to my Df in so long. lol.  But I stopped myself.. it was so hard to do.  Did I do the right thing? what would have happend if anything if i hadnt had stoped myself?  And also is it true that you can get pregnant so quick again after you have given birth?  Im worried cause all thought we didnt have sex we did other things, and there was semen involved, and i dont know where it went lol.. things got out of hand. lol. Oh and sorry one more question ive heard sex feels so much better after having a baby. is that true?

when I had my baby 2 years ago, I was told i did not have to wait the full 6 weeks before having sex, but that you should wait until you are done bleed to lower the risk of infection. that being said I have thought I was done bleeding before and had sex and it made me bleed a little bit more afterward (no pain, just a little more blood) and my Dr said that can be normal as sex can cause your uterus to contract a little more during sexm even when you are not pregnant! if you feel comfotable go ahead, just take it easy, I usually bleed for about 3 weeks and then started havign sex again and was fine. you definitely can get pregnant again right away though by SIL had 3 kid's in 21 months because she got pregnant again right away after each of them. Good luck take your time and enjoy yourself!

I will caution you to go slow the first time. If I remember correctly you had a tear, right?  Your are probably going to be tender in that area for awhile.  So make sure you use plenty of lubricant and choose positions that don't put as much pressure on the perineum until you are comfortable.  But then again, you may be one of those who heal so fast it won't bother you at all :)

My PP check up is on Tuesday.  which is only 3 weeks from birth, I dont see why they scheduled me so early, but im hoping to get good news. Im ready to spend some quality time with DF lol.. and Yea i really want to wait till I can get my IUD but I dont think they do that until 6 weeks so either way i gotta wait, which really *****.  But i feel great, still bleeding and having tiny clots here and there, but not much. i dont bleed enough to even say im having a period.  And even a period never used to stop me lol.. TMI.  Then only thing that really hurts still is my tailbone.  but doctor told me thats from when i fractured it a few years ago, and then during labor the baby rests his head there. so he said it will be bruised for quite some time.   but anyway, thanks ladies...

I had an episiotomy and would advise you to wait until the 6 weeks just to be sure. Are you scheduled for a check up with the doctor at 6 weeks? If so wait till you get the go ahead from the doctor. The last thing you want is to have to get restitched.

Yes, everyone is different.  I was on the shot and had no tearing or stitches etc. after my son 11 years ago and my DH and I had sex within a week.  However, I also have a very high pain tolerance! - last summer I had my right ovary removed in surgery and was having sex with my DH that very evening :).  If it doesn't hurt and you take it slow and easy (and are on birth control if you are NOT wanting to conceive again right away), I would imagine you would be just fine (in my opinion only!).

If you feel up to it, go for it. Everyone heals at different paces. The only reason I have ever waited the 6 weeks is becuase I bleed pretty much the entire time up to my 6 wk pp appt. :(

I also agree with what Nickie said.

I think that if you feel that you are ready to have sex then go ahead, but didn't you have a tear with stitches? I have never had a tear before but I do know that if it is still an open incision or not healed all of the way then it can tear again or get infected but if you feel that you are ready then go for it girl! Be careful because some say you can definitely get pregnant easier then before (but I think that is up in the air still lol). As for the sex question, that is also up to the woman. Good luck and have fun!

Umm in my experience after I had my daughter in Sept. 2009 me and my boyfriend did NOT wait the 6 weeks to have sex.  I felt fine, healed fine and all. BUT I did end up getting pregnant! I am now 30 weeks 2 days pregnant with a little boy. Me and my boyfriend ended up getting pregnant with him at about 5 weeks PP. So our kids will be about 10 months apart. So YES its true you can get pregnant really quickly after giving birth. ( We knew the consequences of having sex right after giving birth as well. We are HAPPY about baby number two and how our little ones will be close together.)
