All mothers love to brag....let's hear your labor and delivery stories...

Most woman are proud of their accomplishments of giving birth and love to tell their stories.  I for one also enjoy hearing other peoples stories so I figured I'd start a thread where we can share them.  Perhaps this will also help some of those first timers out there who don't know what to expect...I'll start.

DD1:  40 wks 3 days went for a check up...I had NO amniotic fluid left...I was sheduled for a a c-section that afternoon.  I got to the hospital at 2pm, was prepped and the babies heartmonitor flat lined...they rushed me to the OR, gave me my spinal and at 4:25 pm my baby girl was born weighing 4 lbs 15 oz and 18 1/4 inches long (she had IUGR)

DS1:  at 37 weeks I lost my mucus plug, began having some fairly minor contractions, leaking fluid...went to hospital but there was no heartbeat.  I was givin the option of VBAC or C-Section.  I opted for VBAC, was given morphine and an epidural.  That was at about 7 pm.  I was also given pitocin to induce labor.  I was so out of it for that labor that it took a lot longer than it normally would have.  My baby boy was delivered at 12:20pm the next day.  He weighed 6 lbs 7 oz.  It was determined that the cord had been wrapped twice around his neck :(

DD2:  Did a LOT of walking for a few weeks before I was due...I was due 7/26.  My water broke at midnight, started having contractions.  Was admitted to the hospital about 12:30.  By 6 am I was fully dialated and ready to push.  at 6:27 am Abby was born at 7 lbs 6 oz.  (this was done natural...no drugs)

DS2:  Had my membranes stripped on Friday...that monday I woke up that am, thought i had some fluid leaking...went to L & D they said I was only 3 cm and to go home...went back at 4 pm...I was 5 cms and they determined I WAS leaking fluid.  I was admitted...I progressed rapidly...by 5:30 I asked for an epidural, at 6:30 the doc came to administer.  As they sat me up on the bed I felt the baby drop but I kept my mouth shut long enough to get my feel good meds.  As the nurse was swinging my legs around back onto the bed she said something to the effect of she could see the head...They thought the anasthesiologist would have to deliver becuase the wasn't coming quick enough.  They got my legs up in the stirrups....the doc walked in and sat down between my legs and I made a comment about that being a heck of position to be meeting someone for the first time...3 sets of 3 pushes and there he was at 6:54 pm...less than 3 hrs from arriving at the hospital...weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz.

dd#1was about as typical as the come. i was 37 weeks when my water broke at 3 in the morning and immediately went to the hospital.  and waited because nothing happened!!!!  i was stuck at 4 cm for hours!!!  they gave me an epidural to speed things up, and she was born at 330 that afternoon and weighed 5lb 5oz and got to go home the next day.
ds#1 would not come out!!!!i was induced at 42 weeks, and when the pitocin finally kicked in, out he flew, literally!! i was only in labor an hour and he was my biggest, weighing 8 lbs 4 oz--and he is still my most stubborn!!
ds#2 was also late.  i was at the hospital at midnight to receive antibiotics for beta strep before my induction in the morning.  i dont know if he realized it was safe to be born, but he decided to come on his own.  my water broke at 1230, and i told the nurse to call the doctor cuz he was coming, and she said you still have plenty of time....she was wrong.  he was born at 1252am and was delivered by the nurse and my husband right as the doc came in.  he weighed 8 lbs 1 oz.
dd#3 was a typical birth too.  water broke at 4am, but i stayed home until i started haing contractions this time--lesson learned.  i waited til i couldnt take it anymore, and he was delivered natural at 1053am--he weighed 7lbs 11 oz.  he had to spend a week in the nicu because of a meconium infection, and i remember how big he looked in the incubator!!!  he was overdue too, i was 41 weeks with him.
dd#4 was disturbed by a calculus test!!! my water broke at college--how embarrassing!!! i was 38 weeks so i wasnt worried, just waiting for the contractions.  it took 24 hours before they started!!! and once they hit, they were bad, so i called the doc, and it was a race to the hospital.  well we beat him.  i didnt even have time to get into the gown and he was born.  the nurses were amused after they scolded me for waiting that long, but i was signing releases after the fact--but he weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was perfectly healthy.
dd#2 was a nightmare--it was a horrible, painful pregnancy, i went thru 2 terrible doctors, and shes still paying for it.  we moved to a new state since my others were born, and we are 30 minutes from a hospital--and i didnt want to have her at home.  my doc offered to induce me at 38 weeks to make sure she was born at the hospital.  regretfully, i jumped on the idea.  i was put in the hospital at midnight, and the pitocin was started--and nothing happened.  and nothing happened all the way until she came in at 6 am.  she broke my water and ordered more pitocin.  i received pitocin from midnight until she was delivered at 1127 am.  they gave me way too much, and she was delivered before i was fully dialated or effaced.  the doctor didnt even deliver her--she was in the hospital, i had just seen her, the nurse repeatedly called her, and then another doc, but no one came---i think they knew the messed up to be honest with you.  i didnt even know anything was wrong with my daughter until she was 10 weeks, when i finally figured it out.  she had torticollis because she was positioned in me wrong on top of being born thru a hole too small.  but they never even checked, all the pain during my pregnancy was more then likely do to that, but they were to busy to look into it.  but she was born at 5lbs 13 oz, and was sent home extremely fuss the next day because the hospital was too busy and i was an experienced mother so i should be ok.--she wasnt even 24 hours old!!!!  her pt for the torticollis is done, but her head is misshapened badly because of it. andi take blame because i agreed to the induction, but at the same time, i wish the doc would take some too, i gave her information of pain, she blew it off, and she ordered the dosage of pitocin, i didnt know it was too much until things started unfolding.

but that is my FINAL baby--no more!!! and all but 1 was completely natural.

You will do just fine.  Everyone is scared, even now after having given birth 4 times I'm still scared.  When it comes down to it, you find strength you never thought you had.

I have 1 DD that's 8 years old now, i had her at 19 and at that time i was more brave then i am now. I start feeling like small cramps so i figured it was time so i start walking around the house "i was told that will make the baby come". When i layed back in the bed a gush of what i thought was water came out so i got up and turned on the light and my bed was full of blood. I woke my sister up and she was just in panic. She drove me to the hospital at about 2am going like 90 miles. I didn't feel any pain so i was thinking i was dying because i was told it hurt and when you die you can't feel anything lol... We get to the hospital and only light cramps i wasn't dilating everything was just like on pause..soon a lot of doctors start running in saying they have to do and emergency c- section because my baby heart beat was dropping. They took me to surgery and my baby girl was born with no problems 7 pounds 6 ounces. But the pain after the c- section was horrible it was like i had to learn how to walk all over again.

I have to have another c- section for this one and I'm not brave like i us to be I'm so scared i think i might have a panic attack when it's time.

My first is now 14ys old, he took 12 hours of labor on an empty stomach. Active labor went pretty quick though. He was 7lb 5oz No epideral. He still gives me hell....lol
My second, 12ys old, she was induced at 7am and was delivered by 12:15pm. She was quick and easy. 7lb 12oz No epideral. She's a hard one to firgure out....pre-teen.
My third, 2 1/2 yr old had to give me a challenge. He was induced at 7am and I delivered him at 1:20 (ten min before my estimated time). He was 9lbs 13oz.....yeah 9lbs 13oz. I did have an epideral with him....THANK GOODNESS!!!! His shoulder got stuck on the way out and two nurses had to jump on my stomach to push him out. I ended up with a spinal headace because the guy that did my epideral knicked my spine. Even a spinal block didn't work. I had a headache for a week. It was really hard to bond because I was throwing up all the time. Now I've spoiled him soooooooo bad.

Now I'm scared to death to have an epideral, but I know when I have this baby, it probably won't be small fry either. My Dr. has already said he would induce a week or so early. I think they will watch this baby's growth better.

DS1: I had a c section on June 13, 2007. My son was born a perfect angel 8 lbs and 15 ounces. The minute my doc pulled him out he began peeing- my husband and I laughed and cried at the same time. It was the best day of my life!

funny part: Since I had to have a c section I wasn't able to eat or drink from midnight the night before. The eating part was no problem but drinking...now that was another story b/c I was always thirsty. Well I begged my husband for ice all morning and he was militant about not giving it to me. At one point I cried because I REALLY wanted a drink. Well during my shower I actually drank a little water (shhh). During the c section I felt really sick and was terrified to tell anyone about the water. Later (weeks later) I confesed to my husband and we laugh about it all the time.

Pregnancy #1/DS1:  Due date: April 26th.  My pregnancy started with postural hypotension (low blood pressure) of which my lowest recorded was 74/54 and trips to the cardiologist for my heart trying to work too hard to bring up my blood pressure.  I had 2 EKGs and had to monitor myself all the time.  By the way I was in shape at 5'7" and 135lbs to start...former athlete.  Towards the end of my pregnancy the doc noticed that I was dilating and told me at about 38&1/2 weeks that I was going to have the baby any day but definately within the week.  I was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced.  On the 20th (Easter that year) I woke up at 2am in labor and rose it out ALL day with 40 family members hovering over me and saying that I would be having the baby that day and could they get me anything and lets walk etc etc etc.  It got VERY old!  After 26 hours of contractions even down to 5 minutes...they stopped!  I was to have an appointment on the 22nd, but I wanted answers because the end of my week was quickly approaching.  the doc checked me again and said that I was 3cm and 90% effaced and said that he would probably see me tomorrow.  He did!  I lost my plug the night of my appointment and then woke up at 5:45am in FULL labor with my first 3 contractions getting down to under 5 minutes apart!  We called the hospital and they said for me to take a hot shower to see if it was false and see if I could get the contractions to stop.  I said no way!!!  We went in and I was at the hospital at 8:30am.  They started to notice that he heart would have decelerations whenever I had contractions, but didn't make a big fuss.  My Mom said that they just weren't showing their concern to me when later asked.  At noon they finally broke my water and I was at 6cm and finally decided to get an epidural.  Then I had complications from that because I felt like I was having an asthma attack but could still breathe!  The doc questioned me and it was determined that I was numb up to my chin!  They ended up backing down my dose twice and by the time I delivered felt EVERYTHING!  Before that point I made it to fully dialated but the nurses (later found this out) said that he was flat lining and I couldn't push.  They told me to wait an hour and they would let him come down more on his own.  An hour of being fully dialated is like you are going to have the worst diarrhea ever and they are telling you not to go LOL!  Finally they put the forceps in and told me to push...It didn't work.  Then they figured out that he was coming out transverse AKA looking sideways!  They rotated the forceps in me (hurts like heck) and that didn't work.  Then they used the vacume twice and did a double episiotomy and that finally worked after and hour and a half of pushing!  Only the doc started screaming for nurses.  I was oblivious to the danger.  aparently he had his cord wrapped between his legs and over his shouder and that was his problem.  He came out blue and floppy (as I later saw on tape) and the nurses took him away and gave him an apgar of 2 and had to resuscitate him.  After a half hour I finally met my little Sean Raymond...7lbs 10oz and 20&1/2" born 4/22 Earth Day at 8:39pm!  The funny thing is that the ultrasound said that he would be due on 4/23...within a few hours of when he was!

Pregnancy #2/DS2: Due date: Oct.20th.  Again had postural hypotension and was put on bed rest once or twice for a minimal amount of time.  Funny story while I was pregnant with him is that Sean was about 16 months old and was just getting used to a toddler bed.  I was 8 months pregnant and opened his door to see that he had redecorated his room with his poo!!!  It was EVERYWHERE!  On the carpet, stuffed animals, bedding, crib, walls, door, bean bag chair etc etc etc!!!  I quickly took him to the bathroom and cleaned him up before assesing the room!  After he was cleaned up I installed the baby gate and got to work on cleaning and carpet cleaning.  I called work and let them know that I was going to be late and then did so again later because his carpet still wasn't clean after 5 times over it!  I then fell over the baby gate and was told to go to emergency and had to call work and tell them I wouldn't be in!  I was monitored all day and then sent home.  Then on Oct. 11th I thought that maybe I was having contractions, but wasn't too sure since they were just like braxton's.  I went to bed at 7pm just to make sure I had my rest.  I woke up at 11pm in full labor just 3 minutes apart again!!!  We made it to the hospital where I continues to throw up and then dilate very fast.  At one point I went from 2cm to 4cm in a matter of about 10 minutes.  My contractions were only a minute apart from the get go and at 8:08am he was born!  Again there were complications as he swallowed meconium and only got an apgar of 4 and was taken away like my first.  I was a little freaked.  I finally met my son Ty Jaden weighing in at 7lbs 12oz and 22" born at 38&1/2 weeks on Oct 12th!

First two pregnancies were with my first husband..........................................................................

Pregnancy #3/? :Due date Febuary 6th, 2008.  Everything was going well for us and my husband got down on his knees and spoke to my belly saying how excited that he was going to see them in just an hour.  We went to our ultrasound on July 2nd and saw a baby measuring in at 5w6d hcg level 47,000...no heartbeat and I was 8w6d along.  It was devestating.  The doc said with my levels so high that it would be up to 4 weeks before I miscarried.  The next day on July3rd we had a D&C done and then tried our best to be happy on the 4th of July and then were MARRIED that saturday the 7th. It was the hardest week of my life.  what a rollercoaster.  This was my husband's first pregnancy.

DS3:  I am 10w4d today and was told via ultrasound that she thinks it is another boyat 10w1d...which I saw too...I think she's right.  I am due July 26th, but am planning on another early baby!  My husband is so elated to see everything in the ultrasounds!  Today I was told to take it easy though because I was spotting brown blood.  So that's why I am on here right now...trying to keep my brain entertained!

I just love reading everyones stories...keep them coming.  I may try again to do this one natural...no drugs...but we'll see how that goes.  It depends on a lot of things.  The one time I did do natural I had some REALLY GREAT nurses who were very supportive and everytime I mentioned an epidural they just encouraged me telling I could do it, that millions of women had done it and I was no different, that it would all be worth it.  It was like having my own cheering squad in the room. Hopefully this labor will go even faster than the last ones.  That would be GREAT!!  I just wanna make it to the hospital first :)

DD: Went to scheduled appt the day after my due date at 8:00am. The midwife checked me and I was 3-4cm and starting to thin out, she stripped my membranes and said you should go soon if not today and sent me home. She told me to walk a lot to try to help labor come on. When I got home I had bloody show for about an hour and I was having contractions that were about 20-30 min apart. I went all day with contractions and occasional bloody show but no baby!!!! Throughout my whole pregnancy I had horrible pain and my left hip would always slip out of socket and it hurt like he*l. I was so tired of the pain, I couldn't even roll over in bed with out it popping out.

The next morning, I hadn't had much sleep all night because of the pain, I called the midwife and told how I was feeling. She said to come in and they will monitor me and if I had made even the slightest change in my cervix then they would keep me and induce labor.

I got to the hospital around 9am they monitored me for an hour and then checked me and I was completely 4cm. So she said she was going to keep her promise and admit me and get things going. I got settled in my room and they put in the IV and got the potocin going. I was fine and could barely feel the contractions. At about 4pm at 7cm the midwife broke my water and I started feeling the contractions. That big contraction hit me and one tear just rolled down my face, I didn't even make a sound. My mama looked at me and asked is it time. She knew that I couldn't take it anymore. So I got an epidural. The doc didn't tape down the tube so after about 30 min the pain started coming back. My mama saw blood on the sheet and told me to sit up...the tube had came out of my back and there was blood coming out of where the doc had originally inserted the epidural. So we had the doc come back and I started yelling at her to redo my epidural because by this time I really couldn't take the pain. They gave me anotherepidural within a few minutes.

At 9:30pm I was completely dialated and started pushing. At 9:45pm my beautiful baby girl came out...6lbs 12oz 19inches long. She was beautiful.

With my DS I had a appt at around 36weeks ( my doc was out of town) so I had to see one of the other doc. At this she notice my blood presure was up ( it was always high) and she told me to come back in a few days whick was a sat. So i did, now seeing a 2nd different doc. He was also worried, and he did send me to LD to montor(sp) me and also do a 24hr. urin test. He wanted me to stay the night but did end up sending to home at like 7pm(appt was at like 11am)Sunday I had to drop of the 24hr. test. Had a appt on moday with my doc at 5:30. Blood presure still up higher. And she told me to get dress and get over to LD. by this time it was like 6ish. SO we did. By the time we got in the room and she started me on poposin(sp) it was 7:30ish. and I didnt go anywhere. They keep uping the poposin, but it wasnt working. SO buy 9:30 she came in broke my water. Not even 15min later I was feeling them good. I was also at 2cm at that time. By 11:00 i was feeling them REALLY good and she asked what level my pain was at and I started to say "maybe 6 and they I was like NO NO 8 9ish." she call for my eip. at that time. He came in at about 11:45 and I was feeling good at 12:00. She did came back in at 1-2ish and i was only 4cm and then she came back in at 3ish and I was 6ish cm. I had her come back in at 4am because I could feel something and at that time i was10cm. By 4:30 I was pushing. I pushed for 18mins and had my son at 4:48am on tue morring Nov 8th he was 5lb 13oz ( just like daddy was)

There are so many people who don't like talking about their birthing experiences, but I think it's a wonderful thing and I love to share my stories.  If all goes well I'll have story #5 to share :)

Awww!!! I asked hubby to deliver our second daughter but I think he was terrified. I wonder if my daughter's collarbone broke because her shoulder was down (but my doc said she felt her head and her head came out first) so I'm not sure. Poor thing! Everyone held her like she was made out of glass. Now she is a goofy 9 month old who likes to pull up to stand and then flop backwards on beds, dance, wiggle, squirm...

Yeah, you can tell this thread is full of proud mommas! LOL!

At 35 wks I was sent to L&D for inconclusive water leak.  I was having contractions that I did not feel and was 1.5 cm.  They sent me home.  At 36 wks. I went in for routine check up. I was 2.5cm and 90% effaced.  I lost my plug the next day.  I was a teacher so I wrote my lesson plans for the rest of the month-knew something wasnt right.  4 days later I was having contractions but they didnt hurt that bad-just uncomfortable.  I called in sick to work (thank God I wrote lesson plans!) DH and I went to our last birthing class.  I wasnt feeling well so we left early.  A few hours later I was asleep and woke up to a pain, stood up, and my water broke all over the floor.  I thought I peed.  I went to the toilet and it was still coming out.  Woke hubby up and told him my water broke.  He asked how did I know?  I opened my legs and let the water drip all over the floor.  He started laughing and then crawled back in bed.  WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?  He thought we had a ton of time.  NO, we didnt.  I got in the shower and my contarctions started immediately.  OH MY GOD WAS IT THE WORST PAIN EVER!  I grabbed a towel to put in between my legs for the car ride.  I entered the ER and yelled "someone call and get my epidural ready!!!!"  When I got up to L&D, they said they needed to check to make sure it was really my water.  I said ARE YOU FU*KING KIDDING ME?  Do you think this is pee????  I was 4.5 cm and after my epi I felt GREAT!  I even put on my makeup!!!  She had the cord around her neck so they turned off my drugs and wanted me to get her out now.  She slipped right out after 2 pushes.  She was only 4 lbs 14oz 18 in...BTW my hubby delivered her-he has delivered 4 babies as a firefighter!!!  She was healthy and never left our sight!

DS: went to doc for 38 week check up, wasn't feeling very well any ways. Got there & my blood pressure was elevated 176/109..and wouldn't go down no matter they tried to do. My doc told me not to go home but go walk around our local department storefor about an hour and then go to the hospital.. he had called and arranged for my arrival at the hospital. I went home anyways so my husband could be with me and it might sound funny but i needed to shave my legs..lol after showering i took about a ten minute walk and i was ready to head to the hospital. I had no pain at all just pressure.i got the hospital around 4:00p.mi wanted to wait until my pain hit before i got my epidural. the nurse came in and measured me and i was 3cm and asked me how far apart my contractions were and i told her about 20 minutes as she hooked me up on the monitors it read that i was having them every 2-3 minutes...fortunatly i didn't feel a thing.....about 15min. later she came and measured me and i was at 4cm...just as she was walking out the door my water broke.....i waited for my mom to show up by that time it was 8:30pm and i had started feeling some light pain and i was dialated to 6cm...i went ahead and asked for the epidural before it was to late for it. I waited another 3 hours to finish dialating and waited until the doc got there. i started pushing around 12:00am and by 3:55 am i had a beautiful 5lb 8oz, 19 1/2 inches baby boy... the funny thing was while i was delivering my husband changed the name that we had picked out for months...but nothing major just switched the first and middle names around. He is 18 months now and is the healthiest child i have ever seen...once he was my lil bundle of joy and now he's turning into a lil man.He is so smart and has surpassed all of his milestones.. as of now his docs say that he is equivilant to a 4 yar old, but no matter how smart he is he will always be the light of my life.

Those are all great stories ladies!! Unfortunately, mine don't talk about natural at all but here they are....

DS1: He was due on September the 21st, and on the 16th, I had an appt., had already started having the braxton hicks, and was begging the doc to induce, I had gained 60 pounds, and was miserable!! She said, hopefully we'll see ya on the 21st, if not, see ya next Tuesday!! Well, over the week, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, the pains sucked!! Come Friday night, (the 20th) I went with a gf and her bf to dinner, my hubby and I were split at the time :(, and we went for a walk.....after dropping me off, a really good friend was having car problems, so I gave him a ride home and said I'd be there the next morning to take him back to his car. WELL, around 5 am, the pains started coming every 2.5 mins, and I was in agony!! I took a hot bath, and at 8:30 am, I lost my mucous plug. I called the hospital, and told them my pains were now at 2 minutes apart, lasting a minute each, and they said come in. I was checked in by 9:30, and dilated to 3 cm.....I walked the halls for awhile, and they took me in the birthing room, dilated to 8 cm at 11:30 am, and couldn't feel his head, so they broke my water, and he started to move down, but my stubborn cervix decided to start closing back up, he got stuck, and his heartrate dropped to right around 50-60 beats a minute, and there was no turning back, the doc said c-section, and I said, okay....then they decided to put a cathiter in, and I slammed my legs closed, and said I don't give a ****, I'll p*** all over myself, you're not putting that thing in me!!! Unfortunately, they did :( and he was born, on his due date, at 12:29 pm weighing in at 7 lb. 1 oz.

DS2:  Well, this one is a different story...due date March 18th, c-section scheduled for March 8th, BUT, at 34w4d, he decided to break my water in my sleep, and try to greet the world!! I was not contracting, but I was leaking. My doc couldn't deliver at our regular hospital, because I was before 36 weeks, so they sent me to the state hospital, where they stopped my labor!! They made me wait until I was 35 weeks, and decided because he was so small, and head-down, that I could go naturally....I was excited about this. Unfortunately, when I got a hour into pitosin, they did an u/s, and noticed the little fart was shoulder-down, and stopped pitosin, took my lunch away (this was noon), and told me I had to wait 8 more hours, and they would do another c-section!! UGH.....I took a nap, and they rolled me to surgery, my hubby was very good with this one, and was right there. He's a sympathy puker, and I started throwing up during the c-section, and like a champ, he cleaned me up, and didn't even join!! I was proud :)  Baby came out at 8:52 pm, weighing 5 lb. 8 oz.!!! He had to stay in the NICU for 2 days, but he is one heck of a healthy little boy now!!!

I'm finally pregnant with my girl, and I have a c-section scheduled for March 6th, she's due on the 12th, and I'm hoping we make it that far!! My hubby is in the Army, and comes home on the 10th for his 18-day R&R, so we're hoping for NO issues!! lol...but there's always something, and as long as she's healthy, I'm happy!!!

With my son it was my first time being pregnant and I was only 16.  I always heard you go slow with the first one but I didnt.  My due date was the 18th and it was about 5:30pm or so on the 18th and I got a little bummed and I remember telling my friends "i guess i'm not going to have him on his due date..even if i went into labor right now he prob wouldnt come out until atleast after midnight."  I ate a tiny bit of lasguna and went to my room.  A little but later i was walking down the hall and BOOM I had this VERY strong horrible pain.  I thought it was a false labor pain b/c I was always told that contractions come on very suttle at first and very far apart and as time goes by they get closer and closer together and they get stronger and stronger.  Well a minute later it happened again.  I sat on my bed and started timing them and sure enought those suckers were ONE MINUTE apart. I knew you were supposed to get to the hospital when they were 5 minutes apart so I grabbed my bag and we went.  When I got there ( it was only about 5 minutes away from the house) I walked inside and they checked me...I was 8 cm already.  I called my mom and told her I was 8cm and in labor....she had to drive 2 hours to get to the hospital.  Anyways I signed in to the hospital at 7:30 i think and my 9lb 4.8oz little boy was born at 11:07 pm on his due date.  I had and epidural at 8 cm.  (they told me it prob wouldnt work b/c i was too far along) It didnt work at all and he was born about 10 mins after they put it in.  It was wonderful. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to do it again.  This time I plan to go natural.

I forgot to mention that with DD1 I didn't get to hold her, they just showed her to me, I kissed her and off she went to NICU...I was so out of it from the drugs and sedative that I didn't get to see her again or hold her til the next day.  With DS1 (stillborn) we did get to hold him, very depressing.  With DD2 and DS2 both times they put the baby on my chest immediately after delivery.  They layed there while my H cut the cord (which he likens to cutting raw chicken) and the nurses wiped them off some.  Then they were taken over to be measured, weighed, cleaned and swaddled and brought back to me.

I tend to be the kind to make jokes in stressful situations.  With DD2, I went completely natural, no epidural, no drugs to induce...I felt every contraction, every push.  It only took a few sets of pushes but at one point her head was right there stretching me and I couldn't push until the next contraction...that kind of sucked but luckily I didn't tear or have to be cut.  It's the weirdest feeling once they get the head and shoulders and the doc starts to pull the rest of the baby out.  Very, VERY strange feeling.

Oh, by the way, I threw up in labor. I believe it was from the drugs. I didn't throw up the with DD1 but I almost did a few times. I threw up 5 times with DD2 (I think it was that wonderful drug I was just raving about and the fact I hadn't eaten for 12 hours). They give you the TINIEST bedpan to puke in and you're contracting and can't bend over because of your rock hard belly... ugh, it was awful. I threw up all over my gown at one point and had to be re-dressed around all the IVs and epidural.

For those of you who don't know DD is darling daughter and DS is darling son.

DD1: I had a labor scare and went to the hospital, hooked up to the monitors only to be sent home because it wasn't true labor. A couple weeks later I was at home and I felt weird. Like I was hunched over, but I wasn't really in pain. It was like all this pressure at once. I couldn't tell what contractions were because I didn't feel pain. I called the on-call doctor and she said, "I believe you're in labor. Come in." So I went in and got hooked up to monitors AGAIN. After an hour of monitoring, at around midnight, the nurse comes in and says, "I'm sorry, but your contractions are not consistent. I'll see what the doctor wants to do."

The doctor ordered an injection of morphine that is intended to either jumpstart contractions or stop false labor. I fell asleep and felt WONDERFUL (LOL) and drugged. When I woke up around 6 AM, I had dilated to 5, they broke my water. We found out the water was greenish brown, which meant my daughter had her first BM in the womb. I was in pain NOW! I had an epidural and felt good again.

3 1/2 hours later I was pushing. I remember I kept laughing at my husband because he'd see the head come out and start shaking my arm and saying, "Come on come on come on!!!" Every time I laughed, she'd slip right back in. LOL! Anyway, took 10-15 minutes to push.

I didn't get to hold her right away and my husband didn't get to cut the cord. It is VERY dangerous when babies have their first BM in the womb as they can aspirate it and even die. She turned out to be perfectly fine!!! She stopped crying the moment they put her on my chest, then they piled blankets on us. I remember I was shaking from adrenaline and the epidural wearing off. She just stared at me and wrapped a finger around mine. She kept blowing bubbles, I remember. And I also remember that her umbilical cord was squishy against my body. Weird thing to remember, but that's what I remember! LOL!

DD2:  I had a doctor's appointment on a Friday, March 23rd. She did the pelvic and was down there longer than usual (I now believe she was stripping my membranes without telling me). I was in pain after that pelvic exam, very uncomfortable, but no bleeding. I went home and counted contractions. They were 9-11 minutes apart. I debated what to do because of experience with first DD and being sent home (that SUCKS). So I decided to go to sleep and figured I'd get woken up if things got more intense.

When I woke up, contractions were getting closer together and staying closer together. I finally called the doc and he was a major jerk but told me I should go in and that he'd call the hospital ahead of time to let them know I was coming (which he never did). I decided to take a shower and was doubled over the entire time. I was half ecstatic and half scared that I'd give birth in my tub. We called my inlaws to come and watch our toddler and OFF we went!

I was monitored for hours, begging for an epidural, but it took a long time for the anesthesiologist to arrive so they gave me some WONDERFUL drug that made me feel drunk and giggly. It was THEN that they decided to have me sign waivers and paperwork and I was just giggling and signing my name. I slept. FINALLY got my epidural (LOVE those!). Slept some more.

This time around took like 12 hours to have this baby. The epidural wore off so I could actually FEEL her come out (I didn't with DD1 which made it harder to push). My daughter was so gorgeous. Daniel got to cut the cord this time around!!!

Unfortunately, my daughter's collarbone was broken in the birth canal. When she came out she was "asleep" and didn't cry for about 30 seconds. I think she actually passed out. She had to have physical therapy for torticollis because she started tilting her head funny and couldn't turn her head normal. She is absolutely FINE now! She only had two or three physical therapy appointments before graduating because we caught it when she was just weeks old.

We found out about the collarbone the next day when the pediatrician checked her over. When she was born she was crying incessantly, like she was in pain, but the nurses just shrugged it off! So if your baby will NOT stop crying, even when you hold them (they usually stop when they hear their momma), then you should have them look baby over to make sure nothing is wrong.

Both of my girls came two days before their due dates, both on Saturdays!
