Almost 14 weeks and still in normal clothes....

Well I will hit 14 weeks tomorrow and am wondering if it is normal to still be in my normal clothes.  I am getting closer to letting my belt out one notch, but that is it!  I am slowly getting a bump down there, but it is definitely not noticeable by anybody else.  Don't get me wrong - it is nice that I can still wear my normal clothes, but when should I expect to start wearing mat clothes?  I know with your first child it might take longer to show...

You should start to loose the bad symptoms by the begining of your 2nd trimester.

You're lucky to not have to buy maternity clothes yet.  I haven't but I'm wearing rubber bands on all of my pants.

haha - thanks ladies!

Mumita:  From what I've heard from family and friends people put on weight at different times.  So perhaps my time will come in the next bit....

Is it normal to all of a sudden stop getting the nausea?  My nausea seems to have subsided this past week... Thank god...

Oh Great! i am 14 weeks and I've already outgrown most of my pants and my belly is starting to get bigger.  It all started this week really. So that means that i'll be huge...:(  I am naturally very skinny but pregnancy has deffinitely filled me out.
Now I have bbs like a porn star, huge butt and belly is starting to grow. I am already considering maternity clothes.
Consider yourself lucky Roke, I'll look like a blimp by the time I'm 5 months.

I could see a tiny little bump (that nobody else could lol) from 15 weeks til 7 months!!! i started gaining weight at 32 weeks. I am now 35 weeks and I still wear my normal jeans but some of my shirts are too small in length and its like 30 below out here so a little belly sticking out just does not work for me!!  Everybody is different though, my mom gained only 20 lbs with me and didn't look very preggo, and then i came out at 9 lbs!!

I stayed in my pants until I was like 16-18w...I bought one of those bella bands because they couldn't button comfortably AT ALL...but it was great!  I really started to wear maternity pants at around 20w...that is when I really started to show.  You'll show before you know it =)

Great thanks for the tips ladies!  I definitely do not want people knowing that I am pregnant right now... so I will stick to my normal clothes.  I guess only time will tell, if/when I get into maternity clothes....

I began wearing maternity clothes around week 22-25 as well.  Trust me... you don't want to be in them!!!  I can only fit into Mimi Maternity pants (because I am so short... nothing else works) and no matter what I do, they are just unflattering :)  Thank goodness the "empire waist" shirts are still in stores too.  They are much less expensive than buying the same thing in the maternity section and paying twice as much because the label says "MATERNITY".

I used a rubber band around many of my pants for a loooong time... so you will probably be able to get away with that.

oh and since at this point you probabaly want the whole world to know your are preggos i suggest going out and getting a few empire waist (or babydoll) tops that make you look pregnant...not hard to find since that is the style now

I was in my normal clothes until I hit 35 weeks. I was carrying him so high that I could still wear all my pants and I wasn't big so I could still wear most of my shirts. Once he dropped low between 35-36 weeks I couldn't zipper or button my pants anymore! They fit everywhere else (legs and butt) but the belly was in the way! So I live in yoga pants now because their comfy. I dont wear hardly any maternity stuff. The style these days are longer shirts so I'm still able to buy regular clothes but I've worn a few maternity items here and there just for fun!
Some women grow out of their clothes very soon and others don't. There's a lot of factors to consider like jess said above. I wouldn't have any expectations on when you'll be in maternity clothes because it is so different for everyone.

Jessbbg:  Thanks - I think there will be a week, where I will all of a sudden notice it.  I know my mom didn't start showing with her first until she was 5 months along... so perhaps I have some of those genes...

Tracy21 - Wow!!  It would be nice not to have to buy bigger clothes!

It took me til probably 20 weeks with my first to have an obvious change at all (and that was only buck naked).  I was in my regular clothes til almost then---probably 18 to 19 wks.  And even then, I didn't go straight to maternity.  I didn't wear maternity til i was six months at least.  I was normal weight prepregnancy, not as fit as I became later, but had an "enviable" body without being a gym rat.

The biggest factors are your prepregnancy "shape" (insomuch as bmi, in shape, out of shape, overweight, waif thin, etc) and how you put on weight (how fast, where, etc---boiling down to genetics and eating).

It is not unusual to still be in normal clothes at 14 weeks when it's your first.  But I know it's definitely frustrating.  Hang in there!  Your baby is entering a time of rapid growth and you will pop out of your clothes before you know it!
