Almost 38w and only 1 cm dilated. Is this normal?

So as the title says, I went to see my midwife today and she checked me. It hurt like a mofo cause I havent had sex for like 2 weeks (libido still in zero, my poor husband) and I even bled a little! so anyways she said i need to walk more (which i already do) and have more sex. It's not that I want the baby to come now, I rather her come at 40 weeks! but, is this normal? I don't want them to make me get a c-section cause I'm not dilating as fast as I should be, so I don't know if I should worry or not. What do you girls think?

tarajanes, I'm glad your cervix is dilating! The sweep hurt right? when she checked my cervix it hurt sooo much lol i was so tight! thats why she said i needed to have more sex but im like "i dont really want to do it" lol!

Grandmatobe: No she didn't mention how dilated I was. She only said that the baby's head was down there already and that I need to walk and have more sex!

mami1323, the only reason I don't want to be induced is cause I don't want any medication whatsoever, and when you get induced the contractions come faster and stronger and most of the times the woman ends up asking for anesthesia (which I don't want either).

Yep, totally normal, that was me 1 cm dilated for like 3 weeks...I wound up being overdue and they had to induce me at 41 weeks.  But not to worry, as soon as I was induced I dilated very fast and my labor was about 7 hours total.

It is totally normal to only be 1cm dialated at this stage.  Did your midwife mention how much you were effaced (thinned out)?  That percentage will tell you more, because dialation is fairly slow until you are 100% effaced.  With the contractions, they could vary from person to person, but if you are concerned about the quantity, you might want to bring it up to your midwife.

Dont worry some women are fast dilaters others not.im now 40weeks + and just 4cm/when i was 39 weeks was only 2cm until had stretch and sweep,then 3 after second one now 4 and been that way few days.it will dialte before you know it when the baby is ready,they wouldnt make you have a c-section because of it.there is plenty to do if they need to.but you will be fine.
as pregnancy progress[s you will feel them more.some dont,but as labour approaches they will come on stronger.and you will feel the dialting.

I forgot to add: i'm only having a couple of braxton hicks contractions per day. Is this normal too? i read about girls saying they get so many contractions per day, but that's not my case!
