Just keep the split pills stored in aluminum foil until you need them.  :)

Alimentum is what my daughter was on as well!  I made the mistake of starting meds and alimentum at the same time.  She was sooooo happy that I never knew which one actually helped her.  Honestly, I think she needed both.  She was able to switch to whole milk by 13 months and we were completely off meds at 16 months...so just know there IS an end in sight.  Once he's happy...you won't even stress about special formula or medicine because you'll know he needs it and is better off with it.  :)

He is on Similac Alimentum because she thinks he may have a slight milk protien allergy! I kinda screwed up with splitting the pills because I just split them all but they seem ok today! hmmm

What a GREAT dosage!!  YAY!  I was so worried you were on the right meds, but not a strong enough dose to really help.  HOORAY!

Is it easy to cut the solutab in half?  I'm going to have to double check my info here...but I think I remember reading that you should use a pill cutter to help split the dose and place the unused half in aluminum foil and in the fridge until you need it again.  I think I remember that sunlight weakens the broken pill.

Good luck!  I can't wait to hear how it's going!!  Also, I can't remember what formula he is on but try not to make any major formula switches while you're introducing prevacid for the next few weeks.  I only say that because if he DOES improve...you'll always wonder if it was the formula or the medicine!  :)

OMG I'm so excited for you!!  This is where I'm going to refer to the experts at the reflux forum.  I actually used zegerid (another PPI medication) with my daughter.  I only know about solutabs from all the wonderful mommies on that board.

Please please post on the other forum and ask for more specific help there.  Laura (the moderator) has tons of information in her welcome links.  Prevacid 101 is one that pops in my head.  The only thing I know for certain is to give it followed by a meal 30-60 minutes later.

OH MAN...I am just so thrilled for you and Julian!  If the dose is high enough, you should see a completely different baby in about two weeks!!!  What dose did they put him on, by the way?  The other thing I remember about prevacid is sometimes it's best to split the dose 2x a day (how many times per day are you supposed to give it?)  If you do split it, give him one dose in the morning and one before bed.  Some moms give the "larger" part of the dose at night to help their little one be more comfortable through the night.

Let's see what else can I remember...I think you can dissolve the pill in a few tiny ML of water and give it to him by syringe...I think you can also put it directly in his cheek and hold it there while it dissolves...

If I were you I'd just post on the reflux forum that you finally got solutabs and need HELP!  I'm sure I have read all of that stuff numerous times, but it would make me feel better to have someone else back up the info on solutabs so we can make sure Julian is going to see some relief!  :)

:)  :)  :)  :)  :)  I'm doing my little happy dance for you guys!!!  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)
