And now I'm bleeding

So, I was just joking about how I freaked out earlier from what the doctor said was peeing on myself. Now I have bright red blood. I wouldn't call it a little bit either. I went to the bathroom an hour ago, nothing there, and I just went a few minutes ago and I had bled through my underwear and my pants. Bright red. It's a very scary sight.

So...I just had an u/s 5 hours ago and everything was fine. What is going on??????

I am glad to hear you are alright.  I don't know how far along you are, but I had a similar experiance with a bleed below the placenta at about ten weeks in this pregnancy.  I have a specialist that is 80 miles away and was headed to see her, but decided to stop at the local ER because I was bleeding so much.  Anyway as for insensitive doctors, before they had even seen me, He said, "Well most likely your miscarrying and there is nothing we can do about it."  Don't you love the way they act like your baby is not important to you.  Luckily despite how it looked, it turned out to be alright and the bleeding only lasted about 5 hours.  Good luck to you and it will be ok!

I asked about the cyst popping too, but since the doctor is in surgery today, I could only ask the sono tech her thoughts and she didn't know. I will ask about it when I see him on Monday, even though it would appear that it woudln't be the cause of anything at this point. Way to pay attention though! :)

I just got back from another ultrasound. There is a small tear where the gestational sac pulled away from the uterus a little bit...so, the baby is okay right now, the tear is small, and the sono tech said she has never seen one of these NOT heal itself. She said she didn't want to give me false hope, but that was just her experience.

So, I was told not to go back to work until I see the doctor...on Monday! I am NOT happy about not being able to work for the next three days...my students don't do well with subs for the most part. But some things are more important. I'm keeping hopeful right now that it will all be okay. Thanks to everyone for their good thoughts and concern.

Hey I was thinking you sad something about having a cyst on your ovary that popped yesterday right? Well I was talking to some friends and they said that when their ovarian cysts popped that it was usually associated with bleeding because it kinda becomes an open wound. Perhaps that is why you are bleeding maybe its not anything with the baby after all. Keep us informed and let us know what the doc says.

Sounds like it was just bleeding from the ultrasound. I was bleeding before mine and it was just brown and sometimes bright red. I went in and everything seemed to be fine. Ever since i had the U/S I started bleeding more and cramping. Two days after I had HORRIBLE cramps and pains and it scared the **** outa me so I went in for another U/S. I miscarried in the u/s bathroom when I was undressing. It was horrific. If you have any pain or start bleeding more, go into the dr immediately! I thought everything was fine because they told me it all looked fine. I desperately hope you dont turn out the same way, but if they say your cervix is still slowed completely and the bleeding has died down i bet you'll be fine. Good luck!

I am going in for another u/s at the doctor's office this afternoon. I don't know how to take it...I'm thinking that the fact that they want me to come in means something is wrong. But...I'm trying to reserve judgement until I know for sure what is going on.

The bleeding hasn't stopped completely but it's much lighter and more of a brown color than red now. It was only red for a couple of hours last night, since then it has been light brown.

I will keep everyone posted when I get back from the doctor today. Thanks for the good thoughts!

Hey Tiffany, Has your bleeding reduced or stopped.?  I now how anxious that can make you and I 'm sorry you're going through this.  Docs can be a bit insensitive at times and to us, carrying a baby, well it's infuriating.  I hope that you'r feeling better. did they do HCG levels?   Let us know how you're doing. Good Luck.

I called the doctor this morning and I am waiting to hear back. I told the lady that answered what was going on, she said she would tell the nurses and someone would call me back...so far I haven't heard anything. I'll let you know what they say, I don't think they will have me come in, since I was just there yesterday, but we'll see what they have to say about it. Thanks for asking!

I'm sorry that they couldn't give you anymore info. When I was bleeding in my pregnancy they got so annoyed that they would send me home (without really doing anything) because if I was having a miscarriage there wasn't anything that could be done to prevent it. Ugh sometimes I want to kill people... I was there to get information as to whether or not my child's heart was still beating so I would know... not so they could poke me and tell me to go home. I'm glad to hear your cervix was closed though! :)

Thank you to everyone for thinking of me and giving me support! I just wasted 3 hours at the er to find out I have to "wait and see." I had a real jerk of a doctor, and he wouldn't give me an u/s, I guess since I just had one, but he did do an exam and said my cervix is closed. According to him, it doesn't mean anything, but according to the very nice nurse who had bleeding in her pregnancy, she said it's a very good sign. If it was open they would know a miscarriage was coming. They made me wait around for over an hour so they could check my RH factor...to prevent any problems in future pregnancies if I was negative. I told them I was sure my ob had done those tests, and if it wasn't going to help THIS pregnancy I didn't see the point. They argued with me about leaving "against medical advice" and said my dr wouldn't be happy about it. So, I stayed and guess what, I am A Pos just like I told them so no problems with that! UGH!

I am just very annoyed with the lack of info and the general attitude of the doctor. I will call my doc in the morning and tell him what's going on. I thought they might call him tonight, I was hoping, but they didn't. Anyway, thanks again for everyone's support. I'm going to go to bed so I can try to get up for work in a few hours and get evaluated. UGH!

I think the hosptital is probably the best thing just to be safe and it will make you less worried then if you were at home.  I really hope everything is okay.

My mom is on her way over to take me to get checked out. I called the office and got nothing but an answering machine. I will have to mention this problem next time I go in. My doctor gave me his wife/midwife cell phone number during my last pregnancy and now I don't have it anymore!

Try to calm down if they did an internal us that can cause you to bleed after. If everything was fine 5 hours ago I'm sure it is fine now. If you go to the hospital again they most likely wont give another ultrasounds. Bleeding in early pregnancy can be completely normal. I bled like a period for 5 weeks almost everyday and it was bright red. Best thing to do is to call the after hour emergency line for your doctor and tell him what is going on he should be able to have you go in so he can check you out again or he might tell you to go on bedrest. Please keep us informed!
