Another pee question (sorry tmi)

Ok I asked why I would have smelly pee while pregnant, and I did some research online. And the thing that worries me is a possible bladder infection. How would I know other than seeing the dr that I have one? I just had my appointment last Tuesday, so it'll be another three weeks before I see her again, should I call and set up another appointment, or what should I do? The only thing I've noticed is the smell, no pain, and it's a really light yellow/clear during the day and when I first wake up it's darker, which is to be expected...so what should I do? I don't want to seem like a crazy person calling about smelly pee just to find out that's exactly what it is, and I know that's what the dr is there for...I just don't know what to do.

Urine does smell strange when pregnant. I'm not sure if it is hormones, vitamins, a combination of it all or what. But mine smelled weird when pregnant as well. It was a lot stronger than usual but no infections. Always best to make sure.

I've been taking my vitamins for 23 weeks now, it's just come up in the last week or two, and I haven't had asparagus or coffee....my urine is light yellow/clear so I doubt I'm dehydrated, I pee a lot during the day, and I drink a good bit.

It can also be because of your vitamins, or if you are dehydrated, something you've eaten like asparagus or drank coffee, all of those things can cause your urine to smell funny or bad.

Thanks ladies. I think I will call tomorrow just to ask. I have read some stories online of smelly pee being the only indicator of a bladder infection with some women while they were pregnant. They said they never felt pain/itching. SO...I guess its better safe than sorry to call and ask.

I asked my doctor the same question about why my pee smells so strange. He said that it is actually pretty normal because a lot of the time your body creates new chemicals and passes through your pee. But, if you start to have pain it is possible you either have a bladder infection or if you start to itch you could have a yeast infection.

Its better to be safe than sorry. :) I'd phone up and say, I think I might have a bladder infection but the only symptom I have of this is Smelly pee... Is all.

Which might help. They wont be mad or anything, its what they are there for :)

Just phone the dr and tell her that you have "smelly pee" but no other symptoms of a bladder infection... Then let her decide what you should do. She will either want to test your urine or she will say you can wait till your next appt
