I would finger feed or cup feed while you have to supplement so that she doesn't get nipple confusion. And I'd still try to nurse her at least once a day so that she remembers what she's doing. After you get it clipped, don't give her any bottles for at least two to four weeks, again to avoid nipple confusion.
Good luck mama! Obviously if I've said something completely opposite of your baby's pediatrician or your lactation consultant, ignore me, listen to them.
Yes. I have used a nipple shield and she was still chomping down on me. Seems she is a ver strong girl. I hope the clipping works! I cried my eyes out earlier as I was feeding her formula.. I loved that bond and closeness between us. Now it seems like I've failed her :(
I was tongue-tied too. I managed to breast feed with my mom and didn't get it fixed until high school. I think my mom said she got some sort of nipple guard? Most of her babies were chompers. :p
The medical term for the condition known as tongue-tie is “ankyloglossia”. It results when the frenulum (the band of tissue that connects the bottom of the tongue to the floor of the mouth) is too short and tight, causing the movement of the tongue to be restricted
I had to google that it seems like an easy fix I think she will be just fine and go back to breastfeeding
Yeah..ftm..never heard of this?..what is it?
Yes someone explain please
Can you tell me what tounge tied is?? Is there a way to prevent it?
Yes what does that mean tongue tied? How do u know if a baby is tongue tie
What does that exactly mean.? im a first time mom and i havent heard of that..
My friends baby was born with this and they told her that the breast feeding after would actually help her tongue heal. She did just fine after and didn't have any trouble. I think they got her to feed right after they clipped and it stopped the bleeding too. Don't worry, she will be just fine after and it will be way easier on her to get the milk out without chomping down on her poor momma!
