Anyone actually throwing up... please read...

I am having trouble keeping my pre-natels down. When I throw up, should I be taking another one, or just forgetting it?

My Dr said that I could just continue taking my Womens One-a-Day and those were perfectly fine, I do take a couple extra folic acid pills but I have yet to have a problem getting sick off of them.

Hi. I'm 5 weeks into my first pregnancy and I am terrified of impending morning sickness. I havent told anyone at work (and dont plan to until after 12 weeks) and I'm afraid I'll be throwing up at work and it'll give me away. When did your morning sickness start, and is there time to run to the bathroom? What should my work game plan be?

Thanks! Heather

I read on a website that they actually have chewable prenatal vitamins for women who can't keep them down....talk to you doctor about those.

This is what a nurse told my sis-in-law (she literally threw up every single day of her pregnancy and hardly kept the pills down). "It is better to get a little in than none at all!" Okay, not a direct quote, but the point was a little bit of what is absorbed is better than none at all.

Do not take a second pill. Soon you'll be over the nausea hump and it'll be easier to take the pills. Your doctor can prescribe a different prenatal vitamin (maybe smaller ones or ones that are sugar-coated).

I've also heard that when you're pregnant a sort of 6th sense takes over. And if you consume something harmful for baby, your body will expunge it naturally (throwing up, diarrhea, etc.). So maybe there is something in the pills that is causing your body to say "Hey wait a minute!!! This isn't good!" So ask your doc if he can give you different samples at the office and try them all out to find one that works for you.

You can try eating foods with extra vit.'s in it too.....if you are able to keep them down...OJ has a good amt. of folic acid....banana's for potassium....i'm not sure what's staying down though...Just a though to tide you over until you can talk to your Doc....

I always puked mine up if I took them on a pretty empty stomach. Try taking them at night with your dinner.

I am 8wks2days, and for all three pregnancies (2 previous mc) i had to take my prenatals at dinner time or else i threw them up! Try taking them while you are eating, with a full glass of water! That might help. Also, you should contact your doc about whether you should replace the vitamin you throw up.

My doctor actually said that pre-natal will make morning sickness worse and told me to take the Flintstone vitamins until I reached my second trimester. What also kinda helps is taking your pre-natals right before you go to sleep that way you dont feel sick and throw them up. If you do throw them up dont take another since like mamafessler said you might get too much of one vitamin.

I heard that when some women get sick from their prenatals, the doctors will actually recommend you take Flintstone Vitamines. Maybe you should ask your doc if there is a substitute. Take care

oh i wouldnt try taking a second prenatal though...too much iron can be bad.  And maybe when you hit the 2nd trimester you wont be as sick and go onto  the prenatals at that point.

I'm almost 8 weeks, and though I have had pretty bad nausea all day since 6 weeks, now I am actually starting to vomit at least 3 times a day.
I will try the Flintstones and see if that is better. TY!

Try taking them at a time when you dont normally throw up...if there is a time.  Or else try the flintstone vitamins...ive heard they stay down better in the begining.
