I am 36 weeks and three days pregnant with my second baby and i take zofran and i am still taking it. My first one i handled morning sickness on my own and didn't take anything for it and it got better as time went on it was also a boy. I am now pregnant with a girl and the morning sickness is so bad this time around so i asked my doctor about a nauseous medicine and she put me on zofran. At first i didn't wanna take it cuz i don't like taking anything when pregnant even if it is safe to take. I have had no problems with this pregnancy at all and i still ask my ob to this day if it is safe to take and she says yeah.
I've been taking it through my whole pregnancy too (I'm a little over 23 weeks). At first it was WONDERFUL! Now I'm to the point where I'm not nauseated at all if I take it, BUT there is absolutely no warning when I'm going to throw up! It just happens! It's a crazy feeling! Good luck, I hope the nausea & vomiting passes quickly for you! :)
I'm on it again with this pregnancy. I suffered through my first pregnancy because there was no Zofran yet. My 2nd they had me on Vitamin B6 and Unisom at bedtime, was on it the entire pregnancy as I have severe hypermesis. With the last baby I was on Zofran and Reglan the entire pregnancy and I've been on Zofran with this one since I found out at 3 1/2 weeks.
I'm taking Zofran currently and took it with my last child. You may be having a girl.. I wasn't sick with my son at all. My second was just as you describe and my current pregnancy. My second was a girl but I haven't found out the sex on this one. I take 8mg every 8 hours. I lost too much weight and couldn't function without it. Sea bands work for some people. I bought the preggo pops at Babies R Us and they help... Good luck! :)
I have taken it and sadly, it doesn't help me much. It does keep me from throwing up quite so much. I didn't even notice until one day I stopped taking it thinking it wasn't helping at all and I felt even worse after I stopped taking it. So, I took it until I didn't need it anymore. My only problem w/ it was it caused me to be super constipated (TMI). But I know it is perfectly safe. My baby is super healthy and I have taken anti-nausea medications w/ several of my pregnancies and all of my kids have been born perfect and healthy.
I actually am taking it and it works wonderfully. I was recently prescriped this before going on vacation to ease the nausea while on the trip. It works great. I have the dissolvable zofran which you put on your tongue. It definitely works and has helped me tremendously.
I just was at the Docs. yesterday and he told me until the sickness ends to stop taking me prenatal vitamins since that can definitely cause more nausea and vomiting. He said that after the first trimester then I will go back on them since it really does not do much for the baby right now but in the second trimester then i will need to start them again. He also told me that you can get the calcium, potassium and iron from foods so at this time I stopped taking the vitamins. It has helped but the zofran works to ease the nausea big time.
I totally understand why you would be weary of taking a prescription but they would not prescribe it to you if they thought that it would harm you or the baby. Just my opinion.
Im sorry you are feeling so ill. Here is a MH link which has some MS remedies which you could try:

Thanks :-) I don't want to take unless I have to - usually in the late afternoon/evening is when it's the worst. Nothing sounds good or tastes good let alone smells good. I think not taking it and not being able to eat especially protein would do more harm than good...
Please dont take my post as trying to make you feel guilty either. I was just letting you know my opinion and that I decided not to take it, because I could deal with the vomiting by eating frequent small meals.
I am taking Zofran. I had to take it the whole pregnancy with my first and I am currently 32 weeks and still taking it. Everytime I try to get off of it I vomit all day and feel absolutely miserable.
All the old tricks never worked for me, luckily Zofran works perfectly! By the way it is perfectly safe, I go to High Risk Doctor and I know he would not give me anything that would harm me or my baby, so do not let people make you feel guilty for taking it.
All I know is I was prescribed that with my first and I decided not to take it. My MIL, an RN, told me to hold out until I couldnt possibly take it anymore, bc anything like that is obv something else in your system that they dont want unless absolutely necessary.
