Yes, it's annoyingly clumpier. BTS had a great suggestion. Warm water does make it easier to break up those clumps. I would heat water in the microwave in a glass measuring cup and then pour in bottle. Then I'd scoop in the formula and just shake the bottle really hard. That always worked for me.
The warm water helps it dissolve and most will sink to the bottom. Cool/cold water will make it float (in which case it'll get stuck in the nipple).
Yup, it is normal for it to be clumpier. I noticed what helped me was to get the water nice and warm first and then put the formula in little by little, and stir in between each small amount until it is all in the bottle.
Or
If you look at I believe babiesRus online, tey have a formula mixer on sale for under 30 bucks. I havent used one before, but plan on getting it as the enfamil is a bit harder to mix.
i too had to switch my son to the prosobee lipil and I loved it. I saw a huge differance right away. 4 years later we found out he was allergic to cows milk.....lol
I am glad to hear that you guys have had a good result from switching to prosobee.... It really eases my mind and I really appriciate your help. Thank you so much.... One more question is it suppose to be clumpier than the regual enfamil?
I used Prosobee with Lipil with my youngest son. He was very sensitive to the lactose in the regular formula. It took him a good 5 to 8 days to adjust to the formula 100% but I had seen a huge difference withen 48 hours to be honest. My son didnt have an issue with being constipated from it either, he actually did farely well, and I wish I would have started off with the prosobee from the begining.
My oldest son was put on Alumentum Im not sure who makes it, but it is made specifically for colic in babies, My son had suffered for 4 months with colic before diagnosed, so it was hard. IF the prosobee doesn't work, I would ask your ped. about a colic formula such as alumentum. I know it drastically decreased his colic symptoms in 24 hours.
I know I plan on bringing and using Enfamil Prosobee with Lipil to the hospital in my L&D bag, I don't want to take any chances with my baby this time, and my hospital does not provide soy formula.
Some babies are allergic or very sensitive to cow milk, so that may be the case with your DH and son. Cow milk is very hard on the digestive system for babies. Soy is actually healthier and better for you and has healthy fat. So I've actually heard the opposite. I've heard soy is way better. I think it is more of personal opinion.
You can always try the Prosobee Lipil for a period of time and then switch to something else if it doesn't work for you. All I know is it worked wonders for me. My daughters had it from the start and they never had colic and rarely had gas. They just got constipated from time-to-time.
Thank you I have heard that it is not as good for the baby and that is really concerning me..... Is that just on an oppinion standpoint?
I also forgot to mention that my DH had to be put on Soy formula when he was only a few weeks old could this have anything to do with my DS needing to be onit also?
Oh, and you usually dilute the juice (half water, half juice).
Both of my girls were on Prosobee Lipil and I LOVED it. First, it's going to take a little time for him to adjust the switch. You'll notice a difference when he's not so fussy. I also noticed my girls' skin palor changed drastically (from a ruddy pinkish-red to more creamy porcelein).
Constipation will be an issue with any formula with added iron. Every pediatrician will give you different advice on that. Because my youngest was a big baby, she was allowed a bottle of water a day. But you have to ask your doctor before giving plain water because it could mess with baby's electrolytes.
With my oldest I put molasses in one of her bottles and that helped. Your doctor will probably tell you to give him 2-4 ounces of prune/apple/pear juice.
