At what age did you get your daughters ears pierced?

Hey ladies... I was wondering when you all got your daughters ears pierced (if you did). I got JayLynn's done yesterday and she was 3 weeks 2 days. Is that too early? On the other hand, I have heard its better to get them done early so they don't pull at them and get them dirty and stuff. By the way, she did so good. She fussed then the minute DH picked her up, she fell asleep. LOL. They look adorable!

My mom got mine pierced when I was 6 days old. She never had any problems with me or my ears. I think that someday when I have my own daughter I will do the same thing! :) Its up to you!

lamb18--- I definitely think getting them done young is good! When Elaina did it at age 2 she FREAKED out!!! So if we have anymore girls, they're definitely getting it young.

Johanna, I've heard hospitals do them but I don't think mine do!

We went to Libby Lu's! It was SO much fun!

Well seeing alot of hospitals are starting to offer peircing the baby's ears just as they would ask if you'd like a circumcision done on male babies... 3 weeks is not too young.

I believe the sooner the better because they don't fuss, they don't mess with them, and they don't remember.
Then when they start going to preschool n kindergarden, all their lil girl friends have their ears done already, they won't get jealous n what not.

I think you did the right thing.

I wanna get my little girl's ears done asap, but the hospital I'm gunna be delivering at is a TOTAL bible freak hospital called "Mother Frances" or something like that.
And so you know how christians/catholics can be...

I was born catholic, and although not raised-
I still know how they think.
So I don't think they're gunna offer that for me, so I'm gunna have to wait and get them done at Claire's or something.

I didnt get my ears pierced till i was 17, my mom has always been really religious and back then having ear rings was not appropriate. After the years she let loose a little and convinced her to take me get my ears pierced at 17. I did have issues i cant wear just any ear rings.
If i was having a little girl i think i would pierce her little ears anywhere from 1-3 months, depends where im taking her.
Or if its available at the hospital..why not?

I would say No they will not develop an allergy to gold.  There is small traces of Nickle in almost everything....gold included.  I would not worry about it though.  If something does happen then you can just go to surgical steel.  It's not that big of a problem.  I would say you will have NOTHING to worry about.

I had my first done at 2  - it was awful.  I had my second done as soon as I could - sooo much better.  She didn't bother them at all.  3 weeks seems early, but def. I think the sooner the better.

I was three months when my mom did mine.  They say the younger that the child is the more likely they will have a nickle allergy.  I am allergic to nickle so I have to watch everything I wear but I think it's cute to have them done early!  I wouldn't say it is to early.

If I had a little girl I would also get them done at a young age. 3-4 weeks seems ideal to me. I didn't get my ears done until I was 5 or 6 and they always got infected, and I was always messing with them. Im 24 tomorrow and I still have an issue with earings. I think it's easier to do it young, because they heal faster, and they are easier to keep them clean. Plus you don't have to worry about them being tender, and having her hair get stuck in the backs....which s u c k s lol.

Thanks ladies! I understand that people have their own opinions about things and I respect that. But she is doing great and her ears look great! My SIL is getting her daughter's done and this week she will be 3 weeks too. IDK, I guess people are just different parents. LOL.

I agree with Laura. And as for the pain I am sure it hurts them just as much when they get vaccinated etc and that doesn't leave them feeling traumatised. Obviously she is doing well now so I don't see a big deal. She is adorable by the way!

ALL 5 of my nieces had their ears pierced prior to the 3 month mark. They dont play w/ them, and they dont get infected as easily AND they dont remember the pain! I think you definitely did the right thing..

My ex-ex (weird..I know, just not my baby's Father, the ex prior to him) has a daughter.. She would cry that she wanted pierced ears like ALL of her friends.. We tried to take her when she was 5, again at 6, again at 7...etc.. She is now 9, I think she still has unpierced ears.. That fear sets in the older they get too.. Fear is a learned thing..

This is YOUR child. I think if your Dr. said it was fine, then it's fine.. =)

i think that 3 weeks is too early. i got my youngest done at the age of 4 and from the first day they were done she hasnt touched them, but know someone who got her baby done at 3 weeks and is now 3 and pulls on them all the time. but i seriously am against getting kids ears done that early, i dont believe it is right but everyone has there own thing. if you think it is right then i would feel that it is, i would just keep an eye on them and make sure she doesnt start pulling on them.

My oldest was 6 weeks when we did her ears and my youngest was a year. I think it is better to get it done young because they don't mess with them as much.

I only had to pay for the earings, my husband actually chose them...
He took care of everything the moment she was born...He even gave her her first bath! :)

We got them done at the peircing pagoda in the mall. They didn't say anything about an immunization record. The place is really good and clean... I made sure of that. It's the best place around to get your ears pierced. I guess at the price of 30 dollars to get them done it better be good!

Wow... they did them for you in the hospital? Did you have to pay for it? That is sweet.

My mom got my ears peirced when I was 2 weeks. She said that I slept right through it. LOL.

We got both of our girls' ears pierced together as part of our oldest's 2-year birthday. So at the time, the oldest was 2 and the baby was about 2 months!

I think 3 weeks is really young. Where did you get them pierced? Most places want you to have proof of immunizations before piercing little babies.

Aww. lol My mother couldn't get my ears pierced that early. I kept pulling on both ears and sometimes would scratch them and cry my little eyes out. haha. But, after realizing I kept getting ear infections, we waited until I was about 6 or 7. MAN I CRIED! lol
Those things scared me! lol.

I bet she looks so cute! Whenever I do have a little girl, (Hopefully lol one day) I will probably get her ears pierced around 4 weeks. :)
