BBT help

Ok, so I started charting temps this past Friday.
1. Do I need an actual BB thermometer? They don't sell them anywhere I've been. (stationed in S Korea)
2. I know your temp spikes after ovulation, but how long does it stay up for?
3. How high will your temp rise after ovulation?
4. Does it really need to be the same time everyday? I've been doing it between 7-830 am.
I've done some online research and the sites I've been to have only confused me.

ideally you would need a BBT but any therm is good enough as long as you can read your temp.

1. after ovulation your temp stays high above your coverline until your period arrives.this should happen  up to 16 days after ovulation. if you get to 18 dpo and nothing then you can test for pregnancy..

2. yes you must take your temp everyday same time slightest time difference can change temp.take temp before getting out of bed,and before moving.i used to put therm under pillow, and set alarm clock.

3.Everyones temp is different as long as above the coverline then you can be assured you have ovulated.

4.have a look at fertility friend or ovusoft these are good sites with charts you can put in your temps, and they will do most of work for you.but main thing is you MUST take temp same time every morning.hope this helps.

You're my little answer girls right now LOL   You might know this answer.........if I get up in the middle of the night 2-3 x's (my kids STILL come in my room!) in what way will this effect my temps?
My temps are VERY consistent, but I do get up sometimes in the night, but I usually do temp around the same time every AM
thanks ;)

Hiya.its common to wake throughout the night, the general rule is as long as you have had at least 3 hours of sleep before temping.somtimes if we wake slightly early or later than normal temping time,by using a chart from ovusoft, they will calculate for you the time difference, however it will leave a disturbed result.so yeah as long as you have at least 3 hours you be fine.
