Blahhhh just want my body to be normal now...

So my son is 5 weeks old, and I only bled for 3 days after he was born, and maybe like 2 random days very light i have only wearing panty liners.
So to this day every bm I have I bleed every single time..

Also this is a new one... When I pee it stings like the outside so bad and my vagina feels really tight or like a rash or something just on my left side.

Shouldnt I be back to normal yet?

I had a horrible time healing after my delivery.

I tore 3 places naturally and had stitches. It's been 11 months and I still have pain when we have sex. I don't think I will EVER be normal again.

I bleed every time with a BM and had to go see a gastroenterologist and have a tube stuck up me. Believe me no fun. I wasn't able to be knocked out since I was breastfeeding. They found out that it was just a tear near the opening that would tear open every time I took a BM it just wasn't able to heal. I was given a cream and put on probiotics and stool softners. even now if I forget to take my probiotics my stool gets to hard and I will bleed with a BM.

Good luck I'm glad that you are starting to feel better though.

I am so glad you are feeling better.  I ALMOST had to go see a specialist for my rectum.  I actually went to see my OB twice after my first baby for the rectal pain.  The BM pain was excruciating no matter what I did.  After 2 visits, he referred me to a specialist.  But I waited too long to say anything really.  Then it just stopped hurting on its own, but like I said in my previous post, it took me 5 months to heal completely and I have had other problems rectally w/ subsequent pregnancies.  But this is also my 7th.  Pregnancy, no matter how natural, can def take its toll on our bodies.

I am so glad you are feeling better.  I hope you are enjoying motherhood.  The good news is that you will probably have a much better experience the 2nd time around with your next baby.

Oooh goodness! That makes me cringe and brings back painful memories!
That's terrible that he hacked you up like that!! I hope you don't have to end up doing that surgery and heal just fine!
If it makes you feel any better...I tore naturally and mostly on the inside...I ended up with 20+ stitches with only 3 on the outside but oh god the pain. I bled for 8 weeks and couldn't walk or sit right for 3! My baby was 9lbs 3oz!! Let me say it took many weeks to feel back to normal again!!

Michele: thats exactly how I feel my baby was a giant for my body and I too pushed for 2 hours I was so out of it, my doctor did say I could have an elective c section but I honestly thought id have a small baby, and didnt want a c section at all he never said cause your baby is huge or anything. I know there really isnt anywhere else to cut I asked my sister since she was in the room and she said it was just 3 small cuts, but it feels like someone took a knife and had a hay day down there. :) thank you so much for you opinion I honestly agree with you! :)

Joy: thank you for your healing prayers!! :)

Well to me, an almost 9 lb baby is BIG!  Again, especially if it's your first.  Once you have pushed a baby out before, I think our bodies can handle more with future babies.  But the first time....it's the first time our vaginas have been stretched that far.  My first was 7lb 15 oz and I had to have an episiotomy.  I KNOW my body would not have been able to manage one the same size as yours.  I almost couldn't have him vaginally because he was too big for my body.  I had to push for 2 hours and was never so tired in my life.  It took me 5 months to heal completely and I'm not talking in the vaginal area either.  I am talking about my rectum.  But even so, I am glad that I didn't have a c-section.  My doctor very well could have made that decision and almost did, according to him.  But he won't unless he absolutely has to.

I have to agree though.  Not sure why your doctor would cut you 3 times.  It is normally a straight cut from the bottom of the vagina to the anus.  The doctor will then give you stitches that dissolve.  Is it possible that the other cuts you are referring to are natural tears??  Just wouldn't make any sense to cut you anywhere else because the vagina to the anus is the only place that would make the opening bigger to allow the baby to come out.

As far as which one is more painful...an episiotomy or tearing naturally....well, it just depends on who you ask.  When you tear, they can stitch you up in the perni area but as far as anywhere else on your vagina, not really.  Those are like natural cuts that have to heal on their own and that HURTS like crazy.  It's not like we can just put a band-aid down there.

I'm sure your doctor was trying to avoid you having a c-section as many doctors get accused (and in some cases it's true) of c-sections being the answer to everything.  But I am really sorry you are having to go through this.  So many think that c-sections take so much longer to heal, etc., but that just isn't always true.  I have had an episiotomy, torn naturally, and had no cuts/tearing and I always hate urinating the first few times after giving birth.  It burns no matter what.  Of course, your situation is waaaaay different.

I sure hope you feel better soon!!!

:(((((  You poor thing.  Let me tell you something.  I had a pilonidal cyst removed right above the crack of my butt.  It took a good 6 months to heal.  I thought it would never heal and I would get so frustrated I would cry.  It was so embarrising to bend over and show the surgeon my butt.  I look back and realize that it was worth it at the end.  You will feel the same too.  The cream should make it feel better.  Good luck and keep us updated.

Sooo he told me its not an infection and that my skin is not healing like it should :( && he is putting me on some cream to use for a week and then he is going to try something to remove the skin if that doesnt work then he will have to do surgery and it will take another 6 weeks to heal...

Blaaaaah ***** :(

It's a shame you had to be cut, they often are so much worse than if the doctor actually just let you tear naturally, and I'm so sorry he did it that way. The size baby you birthed is actually of average size, and many doctors say the baby is too big and it's really not. I think most doctors are just horribly ignorant when it comes to childbirth and children and think pregnancy is an illness that has to be "treated." I'm sorry, I'll stop ranting now, lol.

I really hope he is able to fix you up and you start to feel better soon!!

Oh my goodness! Why'd he cut you three times and where? Usually they just cut the perineum (space between your anus and vagina).

After birth the heat of urine on any rashes, cuts or abrasions can sting. You should've received a Peri-wash bottle to use to rinse off after using the restroom. It's just NOT comfortable down there whether you've torn, had an episiotomy or even if you didn't tear/cut at all.

If you're having bleeding in your stool (often looks like black poo) then you need to bring it up to your doctor. It could just be a hemorrhoid that is bleeding and being exacerbated by going poop.

Keep us posted! Sorry if I repeated anything; I didn't read all the comments.

Let us know what your doc says.

After I had my 2nd baby, I remember real painful urination.  It felt like fire.  I would like come off the toilet when using the restroom.  I even tried urinating in the bathtub.  Nothing was working.  I went in and the doctor said I had lots of little tears.  It was nothing that required stitches or anything, but any little tear in the skin is going to burn w/ hot urine dripping down it.  That's when he gave me the Lidocaine.  It's a prescription.  I also remember him recommending me applying vaseline prior to urinating because that helps seal your skin and keep the urine away from the tears.

Anyway, we will see what your doc says.  Keep us posted and again, I am so sorry.  I
swear, there is no place worse to have pain than "down there."

I surely remember when I had to use that darn squirt bottle. I used to fill it up with hot water and spray it as fast as I could when I went to potty. After I was done pottying, I would run some more water down to my who ha with the bottle at least 3 times to stop any excess burning! Good Times!

There is also something called Lidocaine (sp??), that my doc gave me after having one of my babies.  You put it on right before urinating, and it will numb you some.  It helps w/ the burning.

Still might not be a bad idea to get checked or at least call your doc and let him know how much pain you are in.  Never know if there could be some type of infection.  After I had my first, they gave us 2 water bottles.  One was for the water, which of course, they still give.  But they also gave us one for a mixture of Betadine (sp??) mixed with water.  This was to avoid infection.  You can buy this from your local pharmacy.  It is not expensive and you would simply mix a small amount of it w/ some warm water and squirt it down there each time you use the restroom.  After, use the plain warm water.

I would be careful about using any soap though.  The perfumes/dyes that are in soap could def irritate/burn/sting and possibly make your symptoms worse.  If you really want to use something soap like, I would get some type of feminine wash that is hypoallergenic and fragrance free.  But warm water should do the trick.  Regular sitz baths are really good.  Did they have you do those in the hospital?  You basically just soak yourself in a tub (down there) for about 20 minutes.  When these are needed, they recommend it at least 3 times per day.  You will be surprised how much this might help you.

Again, may want to at least give your doc a call, if these other things don't work for you.  Good luck!  As natural as childbirth is, it can take a lot of time and discomfort to heal...especially after your first one.

Bacteria.  It is so hot right now bacteria grows easily in damp and warm areas.  Just make sure you rinse the area well and just let sudsy soap water run down to that area, don't use a washcloth or anything.  Make sure you dry the area well after showers and going to the bathroom.  Did your doc give you a water bottle to squirt down there after every time you go to the bathroom?  Make sure you are still doing that especially now that you having problems and then gently pat the area dry.

Okay so you have stitches, that makes sense.  You will be okay.  You are probably healing and some might of tore open while going to the bathroom.  Not a big deal.  You just need to call your doctor tomorrow and tell them what you are feeling.  You might have gotten some of the stitches infected, which will cause pain and bleeding.  Does it hurt at all other then going to the bathroom?

If they are infected don't worry.  I have infected stitches before down there and I got some cream to put on them.  Right now, I would ice the area and lay some tucks pads along a pantyliner or on top of the ice pack just to soothe the area until you can call your doctor and get some help from them.

You will be fine though, just relax this evening with an ice pack, call the Dr in the morning.
