Similar to Taking Charge of Your Fertility is Katie Singer's The Garden of Fertility.

Then later, I also recommend Secrets of the Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hoggs.

Just wanted to add that I just got done reading Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy and I absolutly LOVE it.. It is SO funny! (Im 7 months) and I found myself saying "I did that" or "I do that" or "I could see myself doing that" after almost every sentence I read..LOL definantly an awesome pregnancy book. (A good book for DH,DF, of BF to read while you are pregnant too.. I know Travis got a kick out of the titles of the chapters and sometimes read more in depth to stuff.. Kind of realized that Im not as crazy as I could be.. lol)

I'm probably repeating people but here you go!!!

TTC:  Taking Charge of Your Fertility
PREGNANCY:   Pregnancy Week By Week (found it at Walmart)
BABY BAMES:  Baby Wizard (I *think* that is what it is called).

Hope that helps!!! I personally hated What to Expect When Expecting but maybe one of the newer editions is better than the one I have. They're constantly updating that book.

i agree with dani and durhamjk.  "taking charge of your fertility" is the best book for trying to conceive and i think is a big reason i conceived pretty quickly.  and "the happiest baby on the block" is a great book for after you conceive.  another good one for after you conceive is "the baby whisper."

Once you are pregnant - The Happiest Baby on the Block is a good one - it talks about how to calm a fussy/colicky infant.  Very good information and great theory.

I would wait to read the belly laughs until you are a good 12 weeks pregnant.  Once you get those hormones raging and experience some of the things she is talking about you will find it so much more funny.  You will be laughing so hard you are crying.  Otherwise, I did like the pregnancy week by week just because they have actual size pictures of the baby each week.  Also, dont forget about the actual baby reading.  I did all kinds of pregnancy reading and once the baby was born I realized I hadnt read a single thing about it.  I really liked the baby 411 book.  Enjoy!  Oh and If you get belly laughs, you might as well pick up baby laughs and life laughs.  They are really easy reads, you could probably get through all 3 in a weekend.

If you want a good laugh and don't mind some crude words, check out Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs.  She is hilarious and puts all aspects of pregnancy into a great perspective.  She tells it like it is!

my favorite is... "The girlfriends guide to pregnancy"
it adds a bit of fun to the normal selection, and has a great sense of humor while still giving you accurate information!

I think that "Pregnancy Week by Week" is more thorough than "What to expect when expecting".  Pregnancy week by week shows actual diagrams of how large your baby is each week and goes in depth about what is happening to your body as well as your baby's during that week.  I own both books and only seem to reference "Pregnancy Week by Week".  Hope you find that helpful!
