Boy/Girl nursery..............

I have seen some pictures of some very cool looking nurserys on medhelp. I am asking for a little help with some ideas. I am closing on my first home on May 14th. I honestly cant wait:) Its a 4 br/ 2 bath split level. With only 4 room the babies will have to share. Dalton will be 11 months when his sister arrives. Being that this is my first girl I wanted to go all out PINK. But I cant because they have to share:( I would bunk Dalton with his 5 year old brother but since he will be on the lower level that doesnt really work, plus my 2 older boys finally get a room of their own (they are so happy too). So how can I make the nursery of my dreams for a girl, but at the same time a boy??? I have thought about painting the room half pink and half blue, but I was hoping for some good ideas........... If any one has any ideas can you please let me know?? Nothing is off limits, it MY house!!!! I can finally do what I want:)))
Thanks,
Tabitha~

I say choose a theme, like Winnie the Pooh or Barney or Animal Farm or a Jungle book theme they are for a boy and a girl.  Unfortunately for me, hubby and I share our house with my mom and my younger sister and nephew so, there is no space for a nursery.  So baby is going to share my room with me...LOL Luckily for me my bedroom is blue and my baby is a going to be a boy....

You could still do the black-n-white photos! Just paint two walls pale, pale pink and then two walls a pale, minty green (for "his side" and "her side"). Accents could be black! Very cool! Chair rail would look awesome. We're planning on putting a chair rail up in our nursery one of these days.

Hey..I would do something neutral for the walls like green/yellow ect. There are alot of beding out there for boy and girl and I would just play off of that....Man, "if" i get my girl, her room is going to be beautiful!! For real!!! I know what I want her room to look like,  all i need is her.....lol

Joy- I love the idea of black and white photos!! I always do them of the kids just for fun but never put them up. Im not sure about the antique thing though. I would love to do chair rail (?) It looks so beautiful when other people do it:)
leighanne- stars and moons are always a fav, but I would like something with out a theme ....I think , lol! I guess I dont know what I want:(
KM604- I looked at your pictures and remember leaving that comment for you. I LOVE your nursery!! I dont think in a million years I could pull it off though, It looks like so much work:( I know this is going to be a solo project.
Chantal- I cant believe you are just about donr with your nursery and not even half way through with your pregnancy! The room looks amazing!! Its very gender neutral. I just dont know what to do:(

I have never been in the position before to acually have a nursery that looked like in the magazines, it has always been thrown together, nothing cool about it,:( Anyone eles have any other ideas?? I like the color brown with pink and blue. My crib is light oak. I do need to get a a new one for the new baby, but it will also be light to match. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I think the brown and green is a great idea! Two different wall colors! =) I just kept mine neutral. And still kinda going with the classic pooh theme. I love pale greens and tans. It's just so soothing to me.

I love pink and brown together, as well as green and brown or blue and brown.  So maybe you could paint her side of the wall a pale pink and his side a pale green and the other walls like a chocolate brown?  Or do one wall brown the opposite wall brown, pink and green stripes?  We had a girl andif you see my nursery (pics are on my profile) we did 2 walls pink, one wall yellow and the other wall stripes (pinks, greens and yellow - the colors of the bedding).

Oh and hang a chair rail between the brown and green if you go that way. I hate wallpaper borders (but if you like them, go for it!) and chair rails look very elegant and pretty.

I love decorating! My SIL's two children (boy and girl) had to share a room briefly. She did a very old-fashioned nursery with a lot of antique furniture, Jenny Lind style crib, etc. Two walls were painted the palest of pinks and two walls were painted a very pretty, light green.

She hung a lot of black-and-white photos of her kids in there to go with her "antique" theme.

Another idea is to use brown and green. Paint the lower half of the wall brown and the upper half a pretty green. On "her side" of the room add a lot of pink accents with butterflies and flowers!

On "his side" of the room add blue accents of whatever it is he likes (animals?).

Or you could completely go with a neutral theme- safari, ocean, stars-n-moons, etc.
