I almost gave up on breastfeeding, but i pushed through it and im so glad i did! Lanolin cream helps so much and make sure baby has a good latch. Once you get the first week or two in, it gets way easier!!
Used the colustrum which is coming out now and rub it lightly on the nipples. Also make sure your breaking the latch before you pull the baby away. Stick you pinky in the corner of there mouth when breaking the latch. Also make sure the baby has most of the areola in there mouth as well not just the nipple. It definetely goes away once you and baby get more used to it. Good luck to you and congrats! :)
It does get better, I promise! After a week or two there shouldn't be any pain at all. Making sure your baby has a correct latch is vital. If you're still at the hospital ask a nurse or lactation consultant to watch you latch on and make sure its right. Also, Lanolin ointment is a lifesaver. They should have it at the hospital, if not you can find it at a drug store. Hang in there, its worth it!
I almost gave up. I promise it will get better and easier.
Try making sure baby has a good latch and is no just latching onto your nipple. Make sure you have as much of your areola in babies mouth as possible (that's the brown prt around your nipple. That may be why its so painful. I sucessfully breastfed my son 18 months with no supplements. Good luck also if its dry try lanolin nipple creme its safe for baby to nurse even when its still on your nipple
