Can infection cause infertility?

Hello All,
This is kind of an embarrassing question. I believe I have some sort of vaginal infection. My OB started me on a yeast infection cream today. I will start it tonight before bed. Anyway...... My vagina always smells kind of funky. I can't explain the smell but it's not right. I have noticed it more and more over the last couple of months. I though it was the soap I was using or something along that line so I changed my soap and everything else for that matter. But the smell only got worse not better. I have to shower three times a day so that I don't smell it. In september I was diagnosed with something called Hpylori. It is a very severe bacterial infection of the stomach lining. The doctor put me on some pretty high doses of antibiotics. I have really notice an increase in the smell since then. Could the infection in my stomach have done to my vaginal area? If so could it be causing my infertility problems? Sorry about the graphicness.

What about my daughter? If it is spread by oral contact then isn't she at risk as well?

I got an infection that just wouldn't go away one time.  My ob/gyn prescribed medicine for both me and my husband and restricted sex until we completed the medicine.

So it sounds to me like everyone in my family now needs to be tested for H pylori. If it is spread through oral contact then my daughter and my husband could have it. Right? So not having sex isn't going to solve this issue. This is going to warrant a doctors visit and a blood test for the whole family!

I didn't think of that! Maybe we should try not having sex for a couple of weeks to see if it goes away on it's own.

Im not positive but could this infection be passed to your husband, maybe this is why it keeps reacurring, just a wild guess.

My ob has tried several different medications and it still won't go away. I did 4 weeks of 8,000mg of ammoxiciline (spelling?) a day. Could it be that the infection is reoccuring due to the antibiotics? Me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant for over two years and nothing. So I can help but think that this may be part of the issue.

Oh, yeah definitely.  That's what the smell is coming from.

The weird smell is probably an infection of some sort right?

Oh, I'm not sure about the infertility part but I would think anything not right up there could affect that also.

Antibiotics do increase your chances of getting vaginal infections as they are killing bacteria; good and bad.  Hope you're feeling better soon.
