Can mono affect your period?

For the past few months my period has been very irregular. The last time I was sexually active was on May 13 and got my period on May 26. It lasted six days and had a normal flow. The next month I was diagnosed with a relatively severe case of mononucleosis but I also missed my period. I am now eight days late. I am not on birth control but always use condoms. During the four/ five weeks I had mono I lost about eight pounds. Could the weight fluctuation and stress from the illness be a reason for the delayed/missed period or could I be pregnant even though I haven't had sex since my last period? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
