Can you get pregnant on your period?

Ok this is how it happened... I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend the first day of her period. Now the next month shes 3 days late today. She claims to have never been late before except for once 2 months ago she was a week late and that was her first time. She is saying she has cramps like she going to get it but she hasent... So we got a pregnancy test and it came out "not pregnant" (It was the clear blue digital thats 99%+ effective on the first day of a missed period we followed all directions carfully and are planning on taking another soon) but i still seem to be a little scared. I looked up the signs of pregnancy and she dosent seem to have any real symptoms. I just know of a few friends who got pregnant and they talked to me about clinics to check out and its making me nervice... Should I really be this scared about it or am i taking it out of proportion? My girlfriend seems to be less scared then I am...Thankyou for your help taking the time to read and reply =]

You could take her to a clinic and get a blood test done to be sure. I am willing to bet its just her being stressed that is causing it all, or she could be changing cycles too, but its best to be sure. Remember if she is pregnant, you two can be good parents. I was 18 when I found out I was pregnant with my first. I was pregnant at graduation and didnt know it until a month and a half later when I realized I had missed my cycle. My little girl is now 10 and no doubt one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I also have an almost 8 year old. Just relax, and if you need another test, take her to a planned parenthood or a health clinic and get the blood test done. Its the best way to know if she still doesnt start her period in the next day or 2. Good luck to you!!!

I think ya'll should relax. Stress can cause her period not to be here. Just b/c it seems like it doesn't bother her.. doesn't mean it's not eating her up inside ya know? Maybe her cycles are changing. Who knows? But I don't think she's pregnant.

Well if she did get pregnant then or any other time the past month it would have made the pregnancy test positive right? it says its 99%+ positive on the first day of a missed period... idk if i believe it though bc shes 3 days late...

Very slim. Especially since it was the first day.  I know you can ovulate during your period, I got pregnant on the day it ended (12 hours after it ended). But like I said the first day would be really really really rare.

It is possible to become pregnant during a period, but it is RARE. She's probably just stressing which can cause period to be late. She needs to relax and hopefully her period will show up in the next few days. I don't know how old she is, but sometimes women go through periods of time where their cycles get a little messed up. It'll correct itself. In the meantime, don't think you're safe from getting pregnant just becasue she's on her period! Use at least 2 methods of birth control (sorry, it's the Mom part of me to say that!!!).
