Cervix/Ovulation Question

Ok ladies I need some help. I have been trying to not get too stressed out about this ovulation thing anymore because stress doesn't help. Most of you know that I had a leep done last month, and I finally had my first period in 6 months that started on May 27- June 2nd. This is the schedule that my body was on before all of the 6 months of no AF. Anyways, when I had my leep done there was over half of it removed so my doc told me that when it "grows" back it would be more like a woman's that had never had children. I was checking my cervix before and there was always a slight opening and now there is no such thing. So... for the ladies that haven't had children and checked their cervix, how big is the opening to be considered open? My cervix is very soft (almost blends in with the rest) but the opening isn't very open... My cm is creamy and kind of sticky and yesterday it was egg white and stretchy. I took an opk this morning at 11 am and it looked pretty positive and kept my negative one from yesterday and there is a definite difference in color. Can anyone help me understand this?

Well if it is like the opening of a pencil or apple then I am totally there! I am hoping that I don't have to go through will all of the Clomid and Provera situation, but dh keeps telling me that we will do whatever it takes (we have wanted a baby together for a long time) and I am hoping that my body has straightened itself out... but who knows? LOL! So we are just having a good time and bedding pretty much every day (like we used to) now that we are all situated in our new place and there is so much less stress. So know until my doctor's appointment I am just going to relax and have fun! I hope that I did ovulate though so I don't have to do it all like a crazy woman!

Mumita- the cervix needs to be long enough during pregnancy or you run the risk of premature delivery (I mean, really really premature). She had a lot of her cervix cut off to be tested.

Nickie- Well I'm glad to hear all that! I was just curious because I'm not really sure how all of that works. So thank you for explaining!

When i thought my cervix was open, the opening felt like the little ""Opening" on top of an apple. Not big enough to stick my finger in (plus i would be afraid haha), and now that i think its closed, it just feel like a line

Well actually, I was told that if I conceived within the first 3 months that I would probably have to have stitches in my cervix unless a doctor's exam says otherwise or not. For the most part, my cervix has grown back to where it was before but I am due to have a check up next week and speak to a fertility specialist. They are going to do a blood test to see if I had actually ovulated or not. We will see. That is about the only thing that I can do is to check and see... I have been checking my cervix and it definitely went from firm to soft over the last week and we are bedding practically every day (not really on a schedule; we used to bed every day for the fun of it!) and we are enjoying each other a lot more it seems. I am trying not to get too crazy about all of the baby stuff anymore because it doesn't do anything but stress me and dh out. I really am trying not to get too anxious about all of it but I hadn't checked my cervix before I had children so I really don't have anything to compare it too. I am sure now that I had my lh surge last night to this morning so hopefully I will actually ovulate in the next 24 hours or so, but like I said that I am going to the dr next week where they will do blood tests and see if I ovulated or not. So until then, I am not going to stress it or do anymore opks.
When you have a leep done as extensive as mine was, over half of my cervix was removed and you need your cervix to keep out all the infection from your uterus and baby and if it is inadequate then it can cause a miscarriage. I would rather have the stitches :)

Well checking your cervix for ovulation is the most unreliable way to know if you are ovulating.  The cervix "opens" and "softens" during ovulation but everyone is different so you can't really say that the way I open and soften is the same way you do, its based on population average.  By "opening" it means slightly, you can't stick your finger through, its something that your doctor could see if he was examining you.  Sperm, blood, mucus can go through a hole as big as the tip of a pencil not necesarily as big as a pencil eraser.  Specially sperm is soooooooooooo tiny (millions in a tablespoon ammount) that it could easily fit through a pinhole so don't worry about how open your cervix is.

I don't know about what JoyRenee is talking about the cervix being long...I know that the cervix lengthens and shortens at different times during the cycle but I don't know how the procedure will affect the chances of conception or carrying a pregnancy.

I don't have any experience because I don't check my cervix. I know that it can take time to get to know how your specific cervix changes and because you just had most of it removed, that's probably why it feels so different right now.

Because you don't have as long a cervix (yet) are you able to conceive? I ask out of curiosity because it would seem to me that it'd need to be longer to support a growing uterus and baby?
