You Re right thT breast milk goes through tthe system faster and he should be pooing like your daughter did! BOth meds might be to much for his system. Just think of how prenantal vits does to us! not easily absorbed. I forgot about the grip wayer! good stuff i hear! I hoep the little guy gets bettter soon. If you rub his tummy clockwise and roll his legs to his chest up and down that might help too! Hope the little guy gets better soon!!! Poor baby
Hey! My condolences to having a colicy baby! Thats really hard...my 3-year-old was terribly colicy and nothing ever seemed to work. Goodluck with what the doc prescribed. I have one tip that really worked for me...depending on if you're nursing or not...I put my son on a formula recommended by my doctor called Nutramigen and it worked wonders. He was still up a lot through the night but it dramatically reduced the screaming. Goodluck!!!
Yeah I put him on his stomach acros my legs and gently bounce him and pat his butt. It helps him toot alot sometimes.
Also when I put him on his stomach next to me on the bed for a lil bit, when he lifts up his head and kicks his feet and makes his lil squeeking noises he makes he toots alot too. So I try to let him have tummy time every few hours if he's awake.
I think the colic meds might be working. He's only had a screaming fit once today and that was right before his next dose was due.
But now he's not pooing.
Ugh.
It never ends does it. One thing after the other. lol.
He hasn't been pooing good for the past few days. I told the doc when I saw him yesterday and he said it's okay, that breastfed babies can go days without pooing sometimes.
Which I have a hard time believing because I was told by another doc that BF babies are supposed to poo after everytime they eat.
And my daughter pooed like every hour. lol.
I hope this stuff isn't making him constipated.
I'm glad the reflux meds are working cuz he's not fussing about that.
I'm glad the colic meds are working because he's not screaming in my face 24/7 and I can get a break for once.
But I don't want him screaming because he can't poo too!
lol
I guess I'll give it a couple more days to see if the meds are really working, and if he doesn't poo by thursday morning I'm calling the doc again.
My poo lil buhbuh has more problems than he knows what to do about.
More problems than *I* know what to do about.
I'm not sure if you've already tried this, but Gripe Water seemed to work for my son, as did swaddling and laying him across my knees on his stomach. The Gripe Water also works for reflux and gas, which may help him. I know how tiring it can be and I hope you little man feels better soon.
My sister had used it with her foster baby and it gave him horrible gas and made him constipated. The dr said he had colic but he never started that till he was put on that med! She took him to a holistic dr after that and he took him off the meds and she bought this special seat that was designed by a mom called the nap nanny. Babies when sat up in car seats have a higher level of carbon dioxide in theri blood. It can casue sleep apnea, not geting good sleep and acid reflux. My son had severe reflux and it is more common in boys but if they are gaining weight then it si ok not to be treated. As they start sitting up the muscle will close and it will get better. I sugest doing this and he shold love it! It helped my nephew and son. Get a glass of warm water like maybe 1/8 cup in a juice glass. Put a teaspoon of sugar in it and stir it in. Then put a 2 teaspoons of viniger and then a 1/8 teaspoin of baking soda and when it is bubbling ahve him drink it. He will love the bubbles like I said and it will make all the acid go away. Also some dr's say to give cereal in the bottle but the babies digestive tract is not developed enough to diggest cereal till at least 9 months. Especially if the have reflux it can hurt them so I would nto do that either. Now baby food like fruits at 6 months is easier to digest and will help kee keep it down. My son had projectile vomiting and I had to stop eating lots of things a sI breast feed him, even milk. But he threw up the for milk and not the hind milk which is fattier so he gained lots of weight and was fine. Hope this helps and he starts feeling better. Oh the thing you can do is great for anyone except someone with high blood pressure as it has a high sodium content from the baking soda. I use it myself. Love it! Good luck!
