thank you :) yes it is very nerve wrecking I was begining to wonder if I should even push it to get the procedure because it will just put more stress on me through out my pregnancy if it comes back bad :(
Thank you again and goid luck to u also
I hope your results come out okay! It's so nerve racking!
Yea thats why I was so confused cuz I didn't see how it could hurt but im glad we found another doctor....thanks again :)
I'm glad to hear that! But there really is no risk having a colposcopy during pregnancy, all they do is spray your cervix with a vinegar solution that highlights the abnormal cells. They just can't do a biopsy during pregnancy.
Thank u so much for all of yalls advice it has helped a lot....i have an appnment on fri with a new doc :) thanks again
A cerclage is a stich placed in the cervix to prevent preterm labor/ miscarriage. It is usually placed around 12 weeks. You need to have careful monitoring of your cerix to measure the legnth. If it begins to shorten or funnel you may miscarry, so you need to keep ontop of it. If your dr doesn't seem to know what is going on please find another dr. Maybe a high-risk obgyn. Good luck.
Yes thats what I have planned I made an appoinment with an actual obgyn for next week and im sorry that you have to go through that I know how scary it can be when I had my first abnormal pap in 06 I had the colposcopy and tje leep done in a matter of days doctors put me in as emergency in the OR so it was a lot for me to take in and a small amount of time not to mention the day after my colposcopy my nurse calls me and says im sorry its cancer and I had a 3wk old new born at home :( but I also have a big family history of cancer my mom and 2 aunts have had hystorectomys!!!
Well good luck I hope everything turns out good for u :)
I would suggest making the drive to see an actual OBGYN.. They will definitely know more about what's going on and be able to explain things and do things better than a family practitioner..
I had a pap done when I first found out I was pregnant and it came back with abnormal cells. My OB told me he'd have to wait till after I deliver to do a colposcopy because of the risk of miscarriage, but I've also miscarried before and I had placenta previa until I was 36 weeks preggo, so I was considered high risk. I'm currently 40 weeks and 4 days now, and I don't know how long after I deliver he'll want to do the colposcopy, but when I find out what going on I'll post what they tell me.
I also have a family history of endometriosis and cervical cancer, so I'm pretty worried about it...
I think my doctor doesn't know much about this I tried brining up the fact that I heard of some women that have had it done and were perfectly safe but he said absolutely not but im going to have to admit im very uneducated about all this what is a cerclage?? How will that affect my pregnancy???
I had my first LEEP 4 weeks after my first baby, I was only 18. I continued to have Paps every 3 months and ended up with coloposcopies and biopsies after each one. After my 2nd child was born it came back, my OBGYN sent me to see an oncologist, she wanted to do a hysterectomy. I told her no way, I wasn't done having kids yet and I was only 21. So she did another LEEP and so far so good, all is coming back clean! They do an ultrasound at 16 weeks to check my cervical length and so far I haven't had to have a cerclage. The first LEEP that was done they removed about 1/8 or so of my cervix, it wasn't just a small shave :(
I have heard of many women having a colposcopy while pregnant. I think that it should be okay. As far as having had a LEEP in the past that would put you at risk for incompotent cervix. Did you discuss all of this with your Dr? I would look into it extensively and find out if you need a cerclage.
Good luck to you....
Yea its my second time around two I had to have a leep done back in 06 about 3wks after having my second child and I was gettin paps every 3 mnths all coming up clean until now :( I really dont know why my doctor didn't do it but I really dont feel comfortable with this doctor so I think im just going to have to get a better doctor he also told me that im at high risk for m/c because of some spottin I was having yesterday!!!!
I had them done when I was pregnant with my last son. I had cervical cancer removed 2 months before I got pregnant with him. It was the 2nd time. They can do the colposcopy during pregnancy, just not the biopsy. So far so good, all clean Paps! IDK why they're telling you they can't do it, that's odd.
Ok so my doctors office just called and said they can not do the procedure because it puts the baby at risk??? Ok im more confused now maybe I should get a doc that specializes on women??? (i go to a family practice doctor) the nearest ob is an hour and 45 mins away!!!
Ok thanks that makes me feel better :)
Colonoscopys are safe during pregnancy since its just them spraying your cervix with vinager and looking for the reaction under a microscope. If you have abnormal cells then they would have to do a biopsy. Biopsys are not safe during pregnancy so they would wait until after you delivered. I had a colonoscopy done during pregnancy and I was fine and due to the changes of your cervix during pregnancy I never needed to get the biopsy since it went away on its own. Hopefully the same happens for you.
