Contractions...Help!!

Ive been having contractions for the last 11 hours. Started off 8 mins apart for two hours, then 6 mins apart, and now they are about ten mins apart with the occasional one chucked in after like three mins. I havent slept. Ive called the hospital twice and they said i need to try and sleep. It might be why im not progressing!  I've been trying to sleep since yesterday afternoon. Its now 8am! I spent most of the night in the bath and shower. Haven't had a show but heaps of white and clear discharge all night. I dont know what to do. This must be the real thing, nothing i do is making them stop.

well you sound like your doing everything right :) its just a case of getting them closer now, dont forget to keep hydrated as well and  keep breathing through them, I have a tendancy to hold my breath when they get really painful, but not a good idea lol, also dont forget to eat as once you go to hospital, you prob wont have anything until after bub is born, and if you have her tomorrow, thats my eldests birthday :)P

ok so we just have to get them closer together and consistant, also when I mean concentrate, if someone was talking to you, you wouldnt be able to answer them back until it had finished, so can you put some music on and dance to it or do the vaccuming etc you need to do something that keeps you active, when you have your contractions sway your hips as well while your having one, once they hit 6-7 min apart consistantly, I would ring your partner up as well and get him home :)

They are about 45 to 60 seconds long. My bd is at work. Atleast 30 mins away. I dont know when to get him home or anything.

Also better to eat before you go to the hospital as they wont normally allow you to eat. So you will need that extra food in you for energy since you havent been sleeping. Good luck to you. Hopefully you are on your way though but definitely eat something!!

dont worry you will be getting somewhere, it sounds as if your in early labour, how long are they lasting? if you really feel like you cant rest then go for a walk up a hill or something similar, it just sounds like they need to slip into the next gear :)

Get up and walk if you're trying to make them more consistent. If not just go in to the hospital. My friend didn't think her contractions were doing anything, but when I convinced her to go in... She was a 7 already!!

Okie! No more shower and im laying in bed. I am kinda hungry so might have something to eat. There is no way of sleeping through these! I dont like the feeling of not getting anywhere.

I just wanted to let you know that, if you have a question, usually it is easier to start your own thread so we can make sure that we see it.

But you are in luck and I did see your comment, and yes, fatigue is a sign of pregnancy in the first trimester.  You should notice it starting to subside here soon enough.

Good luck to you and pregnancy!

ok, so what you do now if you cant sleep is to either lie on your left side and try and let your body rest for abit, or if you want to get things going, stay active and upright, get some breakfast into you to give you some energy and go for a vigorus walk, try and stay out of theshower or bath for abit as when your inearly labour it can actually slow things down abit as the warm water can relax your uterus, once your in active labour thats the time to use the hot water for relief, you need them to get to every 5 min lasting around 45 sec and you have to concentrate through them :)

I don't want to sound like the hospital, but you need to try and sleep, or rest at least.  If you don't you wont have enough energy to push when it comes time to deliver your baby.

keep timing your contractions, and let your OB know when they get down to about 5 minutes apart on a regular basis, your water breaks or you lose your mucus plug.

good luck to you... sounds like you will be holding your beautiful baby before you know it!
