Could I Be pregnant?

I had sex about 3 and a half weeks ago right after finishing my period. I got my period again 6 days ago. It was early and was a lot heavier than normal. I've been feeling some symptoms of pregnancy for a few days now, nausea, headaches, slight cramping, slight backache, frequent urination, and i've been having a certain intuitive feeling that I could be pregnant. I went to a walk-in clinic with my concerns and they took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Is it possible that I could still be pregnant and its just too early to get a positive result?? and if I am pregnant, what does the period like bleeding mean?

I'm TTC.  Ovulated 9/13.  A week later, I felt extremely bloated and "crampy".  I've had a weird taste in my mouth since then & have felt nauseous.  My periods are extremely regular.  I was set to start 9/27, didn't come.  I was excited to think this might be it.  Then 9/28 in the evening I started noticing a brown discharge just when I used the restroom.  That lasted 9/28-9/30.  Then on 10/1 I got what appears to be a period, but I could have sworn I was pregnant.  The bleeding was heavy, but only lasted till this afternoon 10/3.  Has this happened to anyone & they still found out they were pregnant?  Thanks !

You would call up your gyno to get a blood test as for the tightening feeling I honestly haven't heard of it being a pregnancy symptoms since usually you get cramping and a stretching kinda feeling but I could be wrong I honestly dont know.

I also have another question, I just started having a weird feeling in my lower abdomen area, sort of in between my pelvic bones. Its not painful, it doesnt feel like cramps. Its more of a weird tightening feeling, sort of a dull sensation. Does anyone know what this could be if I think I'm pregnant?

Will do!  If I wanted to get a blood test to check the level of Hcg, how would I go about doing that?

Well what day is your period usually? Would you have missed that date yet? If you have than take test it should come up positive since it can detect a hormone level of at least 25. I would suggest using a first response or a digital (although I think the digital cant detect until around 50 for the hcg level) if that comes up negative get a blood test that will tell you whether or not you have any hcg in your system

I know its possible to get period like bleeding for a couple months. I bled heavily from weeks 5-10 almost every day however I came up positive on a test a couple days before I missed my period.

Light pinkish or brownish bleeding about 3-4 weeks after your last period (or a few days prior to when you're due for your next period if you're on a regular cycle) can be implantation bleeding, but heavy bleeding usually doesn't occur in pregancy (or it's not a good sign).  Especially considering you'd have had to ovulate just days after your period to get pregnant in that time frame, I'd say the bleeding was your period.  The other option is a "chemical pregancy," which as I understand it is basically a really early pregnancy that can't yet be seen on ultrasound and doesn't implant properly and is ended with bleeding, often before you know you're pregnant.  A couple months ago I caught a pregnancy when I tested early (about 5 days before my missed period).  My due date came and went and I was still testing positive, but about two days later I started bleeding and my hormones dropped (I started testing negative).  I had a super heavy period with lots of clotting - it was a very early miscarriage, but I never would have known if I hadn't early pregnancy tested (I would have just thought I had a bad period a couple days late).  If you had a feeling you're pregnant and just had an uncharacteristically heavy period, I'd say chemical pregnancy is a possibility.  You can keep checking w/ a home pregnancy test, but if you get a + after the bleeding, get in to see your doctor right away to be sure.  Sometimes you can have the pregnancy hormone left in your body for a few days after an embryo passes, which would be a false positive.  Good luck.

It is possible to be pregnant and still get period like bleeding for a few months. Thats why i'm asking the questions. If I were pregnant I'd only be just under 4 weeks, and tests can come back negative when really the woman is pregnant. Im just trying to be cautious of the situation, cause if there is a chance I could be pregnant I don't want to do something where I could harm the baby, like drinking.

If you got your period than you aren't pregnant a positive result would of shown up by now.

My cycle has never been very regular. I had my period for 5 days just prior to having sex, and then the one before that I think was about 5 weeks earlier. I didnt have the blood tests done, it was just a urine test. Should I have the blood tests done? if not when could I take a hpt just to be sure?  and if I'm really not pregnant, any idea what the cause of those symptoms could be?

when was your LMP?  and the one before that?  I'd say you got your period early this month and you are probably not pg if a blood test came back negative....but stranger things have happened
