Diaper Rash: Diapers or Wipes?

Mommies....I have a question. Sarah has a diaper rash that she has had for a couple of days now....its not too bad...but seems to be lingering around and wont go away.
Ever since we brought her home, I have had her in pampers swaddlers, which I think are great! At first, I was using Pampers Sensitive wipes too. Well, my gf who has a 6 month old gave me a ton of luvs diapers which I had started to use..I also switched to pampers regular wipes....at the same time.
DO you think it could be one of these that is causing the diaper rash? Do you think its more one over the other?
I have also used desitin and balmex...neither cleared it up....I want to get rid of the rash so I can then introduce both back in one at a time so I can figure out what is causing it, or if it wasnt either of them at all?

What are  your thoughts????

At first we only used Pampers Swaddlers....but than one week Huggies was on sale and I actually prefer them now! They seem to fit his chubby butt better. And he pees so often, it absorbs it better than the Pampers did. We also used the Sensitive wipes but only for the first month, now I use ones made with Shea Butter and they make his tush smell so good!

For a Diaper Rash....Caiden only got one and we used Aveeno baby Diaper Rash Cream and it was gone the next day! He gets a lil red every now and than and I usually use Vasoline-that works too!

i have bounced between  pampers and huggies  i  honestly  i think they both workthe   same. I had that issue with my son and i would use a  wash  cloth  with  warm water  and  little soap ( if  he pooped or something) then wipes when i was out i  would make sure he was dry  before i put the  diaper back on .  Also  A&D ointment is another one you could try . Make she u  change her often   and  at night   when she is  going to be  sleeping the  longest in her diaper  what ever ointment u are  using and the  the vaseline all over her bottom  makes like a barrier to keep  the wetness away from her  skin  as much as  possible. hopefully  this helps

luvs are awful.

i have been switching between huggies and pampers swaddlers.  to be honest i like the huggies better but the swaddlers work ok.  i would go back to the original kind of wipes you used and also for th next few days change her more often.  dont leave her in the same diaper for more than 2 hours or so cause it mght help to heal the rash.  then once its healed you can go back to your original changing schedule.

I know when Noah was a newborn wipes were too harsh for him, I had to use a washcloth with warm water for a couple weeks. You might want to try that!

I know my girls were definitely more sensitive and diapers brands always affected them differently.  I discovered to that vasoline worked wonders.  Cover her bottom with a bit of diaper cream and them smoother on the vasoline.  Always worked on my girls.  Just a suggestion.  Good Luck!!

It very well could be a reation to the switch.  She may be allergic to either the new wipes or diapers.

When my kids have a rash, I stop w/ the wipes until the rash clears up.  I just use plain old water on a good paper towel.  This is pure and natural and won't burn.  If there is a bad rash or opened skin, even the non scented sensitive wipes will burn.  Try it sometime on yourself on an open cut sometime.  It does still burn, so even if they say non scented and sensitive, they still have chemicals in them that won't be good when the baby has a rash.

After the above, use Lotrimin AF (sp??).  Then put Desitin, then put corn starch.  I always use corn starch instead of the baby powders for the same above reason I gave about the wipes.  There are still perfumes and addatives in baby powders, so I just think corn starch is the safer route and probably really, the healthiest for their little bottoms.  Just apply these things in this order and this should take care of the rash.  BUT, if it is an allergic reaction, it may not until you actually switch her back to what she is used to.

I am telling you, these 4 things (in that order) are a miracle cure for diaper rash.  And my kids have had bad ones to where there was broken skin and even blood.  And I don't know why or how they got so bad.  It broke my heart but this has always worked.  It may take a couple of days to go away completely, but it will.  You will see an improvement each time you change her diaper :)

We used huggies for like the first week (thats what they gave her at the hospital and we had some extra), then we switched to Pampers Swaddlers and have used those ever since.  We also have only used the Pampers Sensitive wipes.  Switching diapers or wipes can give her a rash.  Mikayla had a little rash the other day from pooping and peeing in her diaper over night (she usually doesn't poop overnight anymore, I felt so bad though!) I put the Butt Paste on her and it cleared most of it up within 4 days.  I also always put baby powder in her diaper.  If it isn't getting any better, maybe call the doctor.  But you could try another form of diaper rash ointment and maybe try changing the wipes first to see if thats it, and then the diapers?  I don't know if my advice is even good or not because we're pretty much in the same boat as far as ages go.
