Grandmatobe....that's a good idea for when you begin potty training...There's bound to me MANY accidents during the night! I will have to remember that.
I just wanted to updated everyone!!! Last night was VERY successful! I used the Huggies overnight and went up one size, to size 6. They fit so well and we had NO LEAKS!!! woo hoo. I even gave him 8 oz of milk right before bed to see just how well these diapers work. He slept for 12 hours before I went in and checked on him and he was completely dry! Thanks so much for the help. They are just as expensive as the diapers I buy now, but I will only be using one a night. I'm just happy that he wasn't wet at all. Hopefully now I won't have to keep so many pj's and sheets on hand.
Girls...thanks for all your help!!!
*******HELPFUL HINT*******
I have a helpful hint for everyone that was shared by a friend of mine. She had trouble with her twin grandsons wetting the bed (they were 3 at the time), and she got tired of changing their sheets every day. Sooooo - - - -
She layered the bed with a waterproof pad, then a crib sheet, then another waterproof pad, and then another sheet, and then a water proof pad, then another sheet. When the boys would wake up in the middle of the night with an "accident", they would peel off one layer and put them back to bed, instead of changing sheets in the middle of the night.
This trick could be used for when they are older and potty training, or when they are babies and simply leak out onto the bed. I thought it was a wonderful trick and wish I had thought of it when my girls were little.
WOW Julian must be a skinny lil dude! Hes only in size 3 and more recentally! WOW I would go up a size first before investing in the more expensive overnight diapers.....
lol. I know. Especially when the poor baby wakes up soaked! Let's hope this does the trick! =)
Best of luck on waking up with a dry bed and baby!! Leaking diapers are never any fun!!
Thanks girls!! I finally got out tonight to get the diapers. I got Pampers Cruisers size 6 for the day time and I bought huggies overnight size 6. The bigger the size...the fewer amount of diapers you get...but you still pay the same price! UGH. I don't understand that.
I just put it on Jeremiah and it already fits so much better than the size 5. I noticed they have extra padding in them, so I am hoping! hoping! that he doesn't wake up soaked. We'll see in the morning. He is my chunky monkey! I just weighed him and he is 29 1/2 pounds. Size 6 is for 35+ pounds, so he is close enough. I hope all of your advice works! I am going to put a towel down for him tonight just in case.
I have never had too many problems with this so I cant be of much help:( But my SIL has always had to put two diapers on at night because her girls would soak the bed. She swears by it. She has said that none of the other diapers or overnight had worked for her so she doubled up, just at night and she has never had a wet bed since. Good luck in your quest:)
I'd try using a size 6 first. I find with my son when they start leaking at night its cos he needs the next size up.
I found Pampers Cruisers never leaked at night. I would use Pampers Baby Dry with my son but they had started leaking at night. As soon as I put him in the Cruisers, there was never another leak. He's out of diapers now, but it's worth a try.
I wondered, too, if you don't need to use a smaller size. My son is 3 and still in size 5s!! And he is not a tiny guy, just average.
I bigger diaper will tend to leak, as they need to be snug.
Also, make sure you always put pajama pants or a onesie (or something) over his diaper to help hold it in place. Sometimes my son goes to bed in a T-shirt and his diaper, and it will invariably come loose through the night.
Finally, if you cannot stop the leaking, try folding up a towel and putting under him; that way you can just remove the towel, change the diaper, and get back to bed quickly!
you couls always try a booster in his nappy for extra absorbtion, i use them with my tots bots.
pinkbelle...glad to know I don't have the only chunky baby! lol. I'll remember that maxi pad trick...haha never heard of that before. I'm sure I have plenty of those lying around here somewhere. ;) I hear the huggies are pretty pricey, haven't checked out the walmart where I am, but I will look.
Gina....thanks! I remember when Jeremiah was about that age and that's when it was happening as well. But it wasn't too bad, his bladder is much larger now!! lol. I'll be sure to remember to point his stuff down, I have never even thought of that. =) It seems like only the front of the diaper is absorbing the pee, so it fills up so quickly and then it has nowhere to go but up and out! It has yet to leak out the sides.
Thanks again all! Sometimes my brain is so fried, I don't even think...."overnight" diapers may actually work! lol. Preggo brain. My truck is in the shop today, so I can't go anywhere right now...I'm stranded. I have to wait until later.
I know the feeling too Chantal! Caiden is only 11 weeks old and some nights he wakes up and his diaper and onesie are completely soaked! I used to use Pampers and than I bought a thing of Huggies to try them and noticed they fit him so much better! They hugged his chubby legs and butt so much better and actually absorbed more of his pee! He would still be soaked but it didn't go through his PJ's. So we use Huggies size 1 now.
It happened a lot too when he was newborn....at about 6 weeks. Thats when we tried the Size 1's. They were a little big back then but it seemed to work better. Now they fit perfectly! Also, another mother on here suggested pointing their manhood down before putting a new diaper on. Because most times its pointing up so it shoots out the top of the diaper going down the back (because their laying down) or if its pointing to the side it can go out where the legs are. But pointing down goes right in the diaper! That has also worked GREAT for us! Good Luck!
chantal - i know the feeling my daughter is almost a year a shes in 4s already! .. i use huggies and pampers but they both leak so i put one of my maxi pads in the diaper at night and that works most nights .. just buy the overnight maxi pads and stick it in the middle of the diaper.. the huggies overnights are fantastic but soo pricey.. my daughter has the chunkiest thighs and butt...
The overnight diapers do work. My son, who just turned two last month, has been wearing the overnight diapers for almost a year. I had the same problem with his leaky diapers and then we started using the overnight diapers and they work like a charm!
Joy, thanks! I am going to try a couple of brands maybe. I know they will be more expensive, but it would only be for at night, so I figure it may be worth it. Maybe I should try size 6 first ( I saw they had that size at walmart in pampers as well) and buy overnights and see what works better. They won't go to waste. I'm just at a loss. This morning..same thing! His clothes, blanket, sheets, and somehow his pillow got soaked this time! I have also noticed if I use the off brand, during the day they have leaked a few times, I agree, I'd rather buy the better brands.
smjmekg...I think I've tried huggies once but never liked the fit on him. Although that was months ago, things could have changed! My lil guy just pees like crazy through the night! lol. I have also cut back how much he drinks before bed, and it doesn't seem to matter. I will go out later today and buy some overnights. I'll let you all know how it goes through tonight!
I have huggies natural fit, and they work really well for my DS...unless he goes a whole lot at night, and I mean soaked from one side to the other, back to front, then he's good all night. Plus he still wakes up for a bottle, so it helps that I change him at night. But even if he sleeps from 8 to 5-730 he's good.
They make size 6 (at least they do in Huggies). I noticed that when I use the off-brand diapers Abigail wakes up soaked (SO GROSS! I hate it, too). So it's worth it to buy the good brands, imo. You could try pull-ups or overnight diaps but they'll cost more.
Thanks! I will check out the overnight diapers...I am desperate to try anything at this point.
LOL..poor kid...can still fit in a size 2! That is too funny. My lil guy, isn't so little!! His chunky thighs and chunky rear end won't let a size 4 fit anymore!! haha.
I know huggies makes an overnight diaper, you might want to give those a try.
lol Noah is 2 and wears a size 4, the other day we ran out of diapers and I had some size 2 lying around lmao, they actually fit him. Poor kid has NO but.
