Not at all. I didn't dilate till 3 days before labour. Some people might dilate early, but there is no set time that it has to occur.

I was a 5 for over a week after the dr stripped my membranes and I still had to be induced!  We tried everything. The only reason they induced was because I lived so far from the hospital and had an 18 month old at home at the time.  Baby will come when baby is ready. Good luck.

You can go up to 2 weeks overdue. Anytime from 37-42 weeks is an average time for baby to be born.

i dilated to 3 cm when iwas 37 weeks and i tried everything you can list to help me along at that point.. and NOTHING, I mean nothing did anything...  and being dilated didnt speed up my labor in anyway...

I gave birth the day before my due date despite going into the early stage of labor 3 weeks earlier... and even once i was in labor, i stalled out at 6 cm (even though i got there quick)...

As excited as you are, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is to do anything for yourself =P.. you wont have time to in 5 weeks..

good luck

Baby will come when ready, and nothing you do will make it happen sooner. You're only 35 weeks, you shouldn't even be thinking much about dilation. There's still another 5-7 weeks before baby will come and these last few weeks are vital for development in both the lungs and weight.
