Doctors Apt

I am 15 weeks 4 days with my first. I have been to my ob 3 times, 2 times we had an ultrasound. They have not told me the heartrate, only felt my stomach at the first visit, and have not measured my stomach. Im curious if this is normal, or should I consider switching doctors??

Usually they can't hear the heart rate on the Doppler til 7 weeks (I think) but if they're doing ultrasounds then they probably won't do the Doppler. Jus ask them next time any question you may have

They only start the doppler after about 12w cuz the HB can be hard to find when the baby is that small

Thanks everyone! Should they have been doing the Doppler everytime?

If you have been having u/s they won't necessarily measure you either, because they know how baby is doing from the scan.  The scan is more accurate than the tape measure.

My Dr does the same thing but makes sure we get all questions answered. They haven't started measuring me yet either but the last time I went there wasn't much to measure. I will be 16 weeks tomorrow and for sure started popping so maybe they will at my apt Wednesday.

OB appts are really quick...i have awesome drs...and until you get close to popping its an in/out thing...they start measuring around 20w-22w...check urine and do the doppler...thats about it...if i dont ask the heart rate they dont say...they just listen for their own benefit...doesnt mean they are bad...just bring a list of questions to ask them...im sure they will be accomidating

They wont start measuring until about 20 weeks. It sounds like they are a little not friendly. My dr always tells me the heart rate. Did you hear the heart beat though?? I would look into a different dr. You need to feel comfortable with them and it doesnt sound like you are. There is nothing wrong with changing dr's either. You are the one going thru the pregnancy and they see it all the time. But you might just ask them what the heart beat is or if everything seems ok. You could even call about it and ask them. You dont really have to wait til next appt.
