Dr. Keith - please help

Why would my hcg levels have risen briefly (I had a "barely positive" blood serum test) if I'm not pregnant and have not had a period. The nurse said that sometimes hcg levels rise before one starts their period; however, the test was done over a week ago and I still haven't had a period. I quit my bc on January 9th and had period the 13-18 of January. I haven't had a period since. I failed three HPT, so I went to see my doctor. This is when I got the barely positive result. Two days later they did another blood serum test and it was negative. I really want to get pregnant ASAP. My doctor did not inform me that after stopping bc it could take my period several months to return to normal. They offered to give me something to make me start my period, but is it worth it? Would this mean that I would start ovulating regularly again? PLEASE HELP!  I would be so grateful for any advice.

Back in the 80's when I was trying to get pregnant with my second daughter, I threw away my BC pills, while I was in the middle of a pack.  It completely messed up my system and I stopped ovulating.  After a few months, my OB gave me a shot of progesterone and the next month, I conceived.  Talk to your doctor about the possibility that you are not ovulating.  Good luck.
